Overall, another good meal

Another visit to The Bell and another good meal. Plenty to chose from off the menu and each course well cooked and well presented. Good waiting staff too. Only niggle was our coffee's weren't hot, which suggested they had been hanging around for a while before they were served to us. Good British... read more

Friendly fireplace old world room and furniture all to ourselves for an hours cards. Apparently luminaries such as Frank Sinatra stayed here when it was a guesthouse and I am not surprised. Has retained the old world glam. Superb

We stayed there, the first bedroom was freezing and there was a draught coming through the window so we moved to another room which was much warmer. The handle on the shower kept falling off and a bulb went, there isn't much light in the room itself. in the morning there was no hot water for drinks and no cups.... More

A very attractive building, it feels more like being in a house than a pub, with a number of large rooms and open plan areas. Attractively decorated. We only dropped in for a drink, very pleasant staff and reasonable prices. Menu looked interesting but we were eating elsewhere.

Enjoyed a meal here with a colleague. Have to say I loved the location -very nice. The service was attentive, the menu interesting, and varied. The food we had was of a good standard. The only issue was the lack of ales on offer the night we visited. There only seemed to be one on offer. Otherwise enjoyed it.

Nice venue but a long wait for service. I ended up going in search of a waiter. The menu had a good variety of dishes.

Average to poor would be my assessment. Firstly, lovely building, good parking. Entering gives you the wow factor. The bar - less said about would be better. All ales off, one lager off. The Pilsner took several attempts to pour. The reason given was that the cooling system was broken. Then, from the drinks menu, they did have the fourth... More

On 2 occasions I have meet friends here for a drink, on both occasions 2 real ales were be served. I order one and it taste and smelt of vinegar, they did change it but the alternative was just as bad. On the first occasion when i complained the staff said they knew the beer was off the cooler had... More

We stayed at the Bell on New Year’s Eve last year. It used to be called The Duck in times past. I have always enjoyed the establishment. There was a set price £45 menu for the New Year’s Eve party, but that wasn’t the reason we decided to stay It’s a nice comfortable place to stay, not far from a... More
