My husband and I love the place, it sits right along the bay, and the breeze is great! They serve pasta meals such as shrimp alfredo with bowtie pasta, excellent and the serving portions are large enough that if you leave a little on your plate you don't feel bad. I also had the Banger's and Mash 2 Brats with... More

What a lovely review. Thank you so much. We are glad you enjoyed the bangers and mash. It reminds us of home cooked food growing up back in England. We hope to see you again soon. Very warm regards Adie & Steve More

One of our favorite places on St. John. Live music on the patio is a lot of fun, food is superb. Family friendly with an unbeatable view.

Thank you for a wonderful review. We are so glad you had fun during your visit with us. This time of year things slow down a bit and we get a great mix of locals and visitors on the patio, which is always a fun time. We hope to see you again soon. Adie & Steve More

Found this place while searching for a place to eat lunch. They opened a half hour early for us. Drinks were good and priced well. Lunch was good and very reasonably priced. Great place to go if you want to try sipping rum. Beautiful view of Coral Bay.

Thanks for a great review. We love our view from the patio out across Coral Bay. It's also really amazing at night to watch the full moon rise across the bay. We hope to see you again soon and we will have some new rums to try. Thanks once again. Adie & Steve More

We stayed for a week in a holiday house next to the restaurant and ended up eating there three times! For main courses we tried the pork rib eye which was succulent and served with a very creamy mashed potato. The curried goat and grouper curry were our personal favourites; the goat fell off the bone and melted in the... More

Very nice atmosphere and service but the food was quite underwhelming. There was live steel drum music and a great view of the bay though the food was not seasoned well and the portions were slightly small. It's difficult to get good ingredients on the east end of the island. I suppose that's why it was so expensive and not... More

Thank you for the review. We're glad you enjoyed the atmosphere, but sorry the food didn't meet your expectations. I'd be interested to know what you had to eat that wasn't up to our usual standard. Food costs are very high here on St John, but our Jamcain chef is usually generous with the portion sizes. Thanks once again for... More

This was our 8th trip to St. John and the first time we were able to eat at Sweet Plantains. Unfortunately, the main chef was sick so there were a number of dishes that weren't available. What we did have was tasty, and if they are open when we are back next time we will certainly return. If you like... More

Thank you so much for your review. Our chef is all better and back at the helm in the kitchen. But we are a family and everyone jumps in when needed. We are glad you liked the dishes that were available and hope to see you again in the future. Steve & Adie More

We went here twice during our 7 day stay in Coral Bay. I wish we could have gone more. -Food: The goat curry is out of this world! I've tried recreating it since being home and have failed miserably. Their chowder is also very good. -Drinks: The painkiller we had was the strongest we had on the island. This was... More

Thank you for your really nice review. We are very proud of our drinks and always like to pour (at least) a full measure. So glad you tried the mini-beers and mini-guinie. Our favorites. Our chef is Jamacian, so as a hint ;) try some Jamacian curried goat recipies. We hope to see you again soon. Steve & Adie More

I would HIGHLY recommend Sweet Plantains, we ate at this restaurant a number of times on our 2 week stay on St John, it is in a perfect location in Coral Bay, we sat on the patio as there is a lovely breeze and a beautiful view. The staff were very friendly and knowledgeable especially when it comes to the... More

We thoroughly enjoyed our dinner at Sweet Plantains. We especially liked the swordfish and the conch chowder. Other dishes were less wonderful (jerk chicken sandwich, grouper, and, ironically, the plantains) but not bad. The people at Sweet Plantains were wonderful and attentive. The location by the water was lovely and the atmosphere with live music was nice. Great place in... More

We stopped in for drinks and the trivial pursuit game that benefitted the local animal shelter. We met some friends there, had a few drinks and won their trivial pursuit game. Since we had to leave the island before the next Thursday night game, we are undefeated champions.

Thank you for posting the review. The trivia nights are great fun, and that week we were able to raise over $250 for the ACC on St John. We hope to see you on St John again soon - we are ready for a rematch at any time.... LOL Very best regards Steve & Adie More

Description
Steve and Adie look forward to welcoming you to their newly renovated restaurant right on the water in Coral Bay. The menu features Skipper's Pub menu (wraps, sandwiches and appetizers) plus a great dinner menu of Caribbean food such as goat curry and curried grouper, as well as Italian pasta dishes with a unique Sweet Plantains twist. Walk-ins are always welcome, but it is recommend to call ahead and reserve a table during high season.
