A unique experience with no obvious menu card, simply an overview of the flavors and ingredients that would be used. Jan is a great host and very generous with wine suggestions and explanations for the courses. we ate delightfully and had a wonderful evening. My...More

The food in this restaurant is excellent. The menu does not offer you to choose plates, but lists a number of tastes/ingredients. Each plate brings a sequence of these tastes, which only the best chefs can realise. The accompaning wines are very good. The service...More

No Caroline this time so we had the honour to be served by the chef himself. Only 2 tables at the lunch service so we were served smooth, fast and personal. We had chosen for the "small" 3 course menu but that was plenty for...More

I used this title already for a hotel review. This title fits this restaurant for sure. It is breaking down a lot of traditional perceptiosn we have about how a Michelin restaurant shoudl be. The outside of the restaurant does not unveal the type of...More

Always surprising mix of flavours, often combining typical Flemish ingredients with exotic recipes. My favourite address in the region of Gent.

Lotus Root is a relatively small and unassuming restaurant, and a huge surprise in this little town. We dined there on a Sunday evening, and were the only table that evening. Although this can be an odd experience in certain restaurants, it wasn't here -...More

Description
California is a melting pot of cultures and nationalities. A mix that has translated into a kitchen that brings together the best of all worlds. Californian cuisine is therefore one of the most diverse in the world. Elements of classical cuisine and Californian cuisine are brought together with the natural flavors of known and lesser known ingredients and diverse cooking techniques. The kitchen, California Inspired Cuisine is a unique and very personal cuisine brings a combination of fresh produce, classic techniques, Californian & Asian influences, based on the background of the Chef and his inspiration of the moment. There is no menu. The often surprising dishes from the inventive cuisine are light, fresh, creative and balanced. Heavy, rich sauces, the excessive richeness, or even the sometimes distinctive overcooking were omitted. Healthy eating is key. Already since 2009 there has been a persistent drive to continue this trend into the future, this urge without unnecessary and constantly refer to the period in the States. This results in an even more varied results on plate and in the glass, which ultimately is also the intention.
