Great lobster bisque and tons of small Icelandic lobsters (as tiny as their horses). Go for the lobster menu, it's well worth it. Great service in an authentic setting.

Fjorubordid is a restaurant that is located by the beach in South Iceland in the village of Stokkseyri, just 15 minutes drive from Selfoss. It is well worth the trip, as their menu is celebrating lobster, which was one of the best I have ever eaten in any country on any continent. The lobster soup that I tried was absolutely... More

Somehow this restaurant achieves two things at once - be a deeply felt local restaurant and a tourist destination. The minute you walk in it has this homely bistro feel to it. It's small quarters, limited tables, and cakes right on the front desk help with this. But the reason you are probably there is not because you know someone... More

I had heard good things about Fjöruborðið from people around me. It seems that they have not been there in a good while. The atmosphere was quite a letdown. The decor is old and worn, a mixture of dated IKEA lights and cafeteria furniture with a hint of complacency. Their pride and joy, the lobster bisque was peppery and average.... More

We did this as a lunch trip from Reykavik. It really lived up to everything we heard about the place. The soup was really tasty. The langoustines was perfectly prepared in their simplicity. Well worth the trip from Reykavik.

We went here for dinner at the recommendation of both our Guesthouse as well as the recommendation in Lonely planet as the "best Lobster bisque" in Iceland. We ordered two services of the 3 course meal and a bottle of wine. The lobster bisque was very good and was by far the best we had in Iceland and we had... More

We were two couples and a small family: Each of us relished our delicious meal choice. The Langostino was amazing, the lamb absolutely wonderful, and the lobster soup was beyond compare. The bread was perfect and the service excellent. We all highly recommend this restaurant.

I've been a regular since the place opened, visiting at least once a year for almost two decades for the great langoustine tails - which are always good - no question of that. The restaurant itself is hower getting a bit tired and worn out. Nothing new on the menu or in the decor for years and years. Sure, if... More

On vacation and toured the Reykjavik peninsula. Drove to Selfoss. Could not locate any good restaurants. Found this on Trip Advisor and decided to try it. WOW!!! Most tender lobster I've ever had! Had the lobster all in one meal which included lobster soup, Icelandic lobster (8 tails - not as large as Maine lobster), roasted potatoes and the trimmings... More

Description
At the seashore the giant lobster makes appointments with mermaids and Landlubbers. He waves his large claws, attracting the desire to be in the company of starfish and lumbfish. The village's corrugated iron houses, located just above its harbour, smack of ocean fragrance and seahorses. The village is named Stokkseyri and it sits just sixty thousand metres from Icelands capital, with a view of volcanoes, the ocean and endless hayfields. Under the stars, an even more important journey takes place - across salivating tongues, beautiful stomachs and joyful minds...
