Looking for somewhere for lunch on a hut June day, we stumbled upon this shady, cool place, and wandered in. Greeted warmly by the waiter, and served a delicious choice of meals, including fresh salads with interesting ingredients, and tartiflette for those with bigger appetites.

We booked in to this place based on its TA rating. Firstly, booking is highly recommended - several people came in during our time there and had to be turned away as it was full up. This is a charming little restaurant, dark and full of old trinkets posters etc. It is fairly small, and the staff comprised the very... More

We were looking for a specific restaurant for lunch by the river and passed La Chaumiere en route so stopped out of curiosity to look at the menu. Turned out to be a great decision! Beautifully presented salads with much variety and the tartiflette was superb. Carafe wine (red and white) was good value and enjoyable.

Just walking through Montignac ,and spotted this little restaurant. Didn't expect to get a seat ,as it's very small ,but we did . What a pleasant little place to spend Friday evening . Food was very good and not expensive . A little starter of charcuterie plate ,and then there were salads of goose gizzard ,very tasty . Followed by... More

Amazing food. Definitely come hungry. Cheese, meat and potatoes. Rich, filling and homely. The ice-cream boat was a perfect end to the meal. Although we had to share one between two and still our eyes were bigger than our bellies! The service was faultless and the atmosphere was lovely. Go, go, go! icLoveExcelserservice

This is our second visit and our memories were well justified. The smoked meats, sliced in front of you, are typically served with potatoes smothered in melted cheese. Not sure of the calorie count but excellent flavours. There are other dishes. We were confused by the restaurant's version of french onion soup - it was soup and it was made... More

My wife and I were staying in Montignac, and had the good fortune to call into this delightful restaurant. We were warmly greeted and seated at our table. We were offered apéritifs and we chose our meals from the menu, What a fine example of French cooking we experienced. And the choice of wine too! We visited this place again... More

Food was very good. The service was exceptionally good. The bloke was very attentive to our request even though we spoke little French. I will highly recommend. The portions are very generous.

A bit like a throwback to 70s Val d'isere this place isn't bad if you like that heavy duty Savoyard stuff. What it's doing here I'm not sure. The food isn't bad and le patron was pleasant but one hardly comes to the Dordogne to eat this kind of food. Weird mix of faux English clutter on the walls, as... More
