Theres one main reason this pub is a gem. It has the most stunning views as far as shropshire. Another reason i love this place is because its off the beaten track and not everyone knows about it. Can we keep it this way please? Not a huge menu but the food is good. Pies are lovely but i do... More

Met friends for dinner. Amazing view! Good menu, lots of pub classics such as fish and chips, home made burgers ect. Nice food, good portions and friendly efficient service. Good selection of wines and real beers, ciders. What more could you ask for from a country pub.

We took friends from Hong Kong for lunch and were pleased we did - they loved the pub, the garden, the view, the beer, the food and service was speedy and friendly. So what more can you ask from a local pub? Prices are reasonable and having the option for a small or large plate is a sensible idea. I... More

Staff and service were good and friendly, but we were sat in the (i assume) function bar with all the spare stuff, empty boxes on the bar, greasy looking carpet, baby chairs stacked in a corner, odd pictures and out-dated (red) paint job. Tired looking place. Food ok. Whitebait good but tiny portion. Apparently known for its pies the beef... More

All four or my marks go to the stunning view, breathtaking. Also this is the first pub I have been to which offers free nappies in the ladies ( we did not take our three children...but awesome to see!). The food was below average for the price. Not entirely sure what the chef won the prize for in pies....as ours... More

So I guess I will rate it 4 stars. I will go there again just cause the back garden has the most breathtaking views ever. The roasts we had were acceptable but we all thought the potatoes seemed microwaved and the rest was good but nothing special, which is a bit of a shame.

We booked a table for two early doors and got the best one in the house,in the conservatory overlooking stunning countryside. All the staff were very welcoming and smiley with lovely manners. We ordered hunters chicken and the steak, absolutely delicious decent sized portions. A great choice of ales too followed by wicked chocolate brownie and ice cream, yummy. A... More

We were recommended The Black Horse and so decided to try to find it as we were more or less in the area overnight. What an amazing place (seek and you will definitely find) - very friendly welcome by bar staff, sat in the front garden to begin with where there are some kiddies toys, rabbit and guinea pig for... We went for lunch and was amazed. Stunning food at great prices. Very friendly staff and a view to die for. Cannot wait to go back soon. An hour drive from us but well worth it. 10/10 Highly recommend and dog friendly.

This was my first visit after hearing fab reviews about the place. Well I wasn't disappointed! The staff are friendly and polite, the food (I had the black horse burger!) was superb and the views from the garden are fabulous! Well done Debs and team!! I will be back!
