I like this restaurant very much, they always has classic swedish dishes on the menu. Very good and friendly service. Lunches are very popular so book a table just to make sure.

Stroll through the winding streets of Visby and when you fell hungry head for Bakfickan. You'll have to book in advance since there's not so many tables. But it's worth the effort. Sunny days and evenings you can sit outside and enjoy the lively square surrounded by restaurants.

our airbnb hosts recommended this place, not only for being in the vicinity, and we were not disappointed! the sole waitress was very nice, helpful and knowledgeable about the the selections on offer. she offered a taste of the suggested beer before ordering and to switch the side for one starter with the one for another was no problem. good... Always nice to try a new place. Had fried herring with mashed potatoes and butter. Crazy good! Washed this down with some local beer/pils a real treat.

Bakfickan is an "institution" among the restaurants in Visby. The service is familiar and Quick, and the dishes are very tasty. A lot of local ingredients and special recepies.

We stopped by last Saturday without reservations and luckily was given a table at the small bar. The pre course was small crab cakes which were delicious. The sea bass was cooked to perfection served with a good quality recommended wine. Don't miss out on the desert!

Nothing mind blowing, but the traditional fish soup and fried herring was very good. I liked the local Wisby stout beer as well. Surprisingly few seafood options in Visby considering its on an island- so this was the best of few options.

Came here solo at 5:30 on a Friday in the off season and could only get a seat at the bar, since apparently the rest of the tables were booked. I didn't see many people show up at 6, though. The place is very small, and only one person was taking care of customers. I'm quite impressed at how prompt... More

This is a well-known and very popular seafood restaurant at the corner of the main square (Stora Torget) in Visby. We stayed in Visby for one week in September 2016, and ate three times in Bakfickan: e.g. Toast Skagen, smoked shrimps, marinated salmon and Baltic herring. The food was absolutely fresh and delicious, and the service cheerful. Book ahead, especially... More

A great fish food restaurant. Serves great food in a really nice atmosphere. Right next to Stora Torget in the great old town of Visby. Nice celection of seafood dishes and also a good selection of beer and wine.
