We attempted to get a place in this restaurant for three nights, but the lines were always so long that we changed our minds. On the last night, finally, my wife and I and our three children got a table inside the little cozy restaurant and had a fantastic dinner. For the children they have a fish burger and my... More

First of all, what I want to say goes for most restaurants in Visby. They seem to have no liking for tourists! When you inquire about making a reservation, they tell you can't book ahead, but when you go there in the evening, you get to hear all the tables are reserved! Apparently, they don't make reservations for foreigners, but... More

It's good to know in advance that this place doesn't take reservations for after 6pm -- it's just first-come first-served. We came by around early afternoon to try to make a reservation and found out the rule. So we just came back a little before 6pm and asked for the first available spot, which happened to be outside on the... More

Hmm. First the food: typical high end fish/bristo. Nothing fancy, Most seemed locally sourced, but prep was not inspired. For example, the fish soup was fine, not particularly rich or intense, the takes on local herring (strömming) were varied but familiar, etc. And if you don't like fish, don't come. Service: Okay, I'm used to Swedish service where folks are... More

Very rude. Kept us waiting outside for 10 minutes and refused to say if they had a free table (a yes/no question). Attitude obviously spoiled by no 1 ranking here. We gave up and went elsewhere.

Positive: The food was excellent, the serving was very professional even if it required flexibility (we were 4 adults, 3 small children + 1 dog). The location is charming with a nice overview of the main square from the outdoor tables. Negative: The reception of guests by the young, obviously inexperienced and not the least service minded lady. We were... More

Was at the Bakfickan for a very late lunch. And loved it! The way we were treated, the way food was presented and how it all tasted - top notch. Strongly advice that you make your table reservation few days in advance. We could not get a reservation in spite of trying for a couple of days and finally took... More

Our kids loved the food and I understand why. The fish burger is delicious and rich of butter! Unfortunately the adult dinner with herring and shrimps were nothing out of the ordinary. I recommend going to Sandhamn for a nice herring if you live Swedish seafood. Very small serving and young staff. So the service is not too high.

Went here with my wife and we were well taken care of by the friendly and service-minded staff. The location is great for people watching right at Stora Torget. However, the food was both quite pricey and nothing special. Tried the calamari as an appetizer followed by the fish soup.

I booked a table here for a late lunch on a Monday at 3.00 pm with my wife. On entering the restaurant we were made to feel very welcome. We got a table outside and were able to enjoy the scenery and lively environment next to St. Katarina’s church ruin. Throughout our lunch the service was very friendly and relaxed.... More
