We took our grandchildren here for lunch mid-week after a morning’s activity, and arrived half an hour early. This was no problem for the restaurant and, actually, was a benefit to us as the pub got pretty busy later. Clearly a good sign. All the...food we had was excellent although some might say a bit pricey for lunch. You pay for quality however. The kids menu was good and varied, and reasonably priced too. Service was friendly and prompt. No complaints whatsoever.More

On the last day of our holiday our family of seven (5 adults and 2 Children) dined out at the Woolpack, a beautiful country pub that had a lovely modern touch. We were shown to our table and was very quickly greeted and welcomed and...asked if we would like drinks (table service only). A very well presented bar area had a great selection of cask, draughts and gins, amongst others. Onto the food, a good sized menu with good variety, from tempura vegetables (they were beautiful), Steak Burger to Steak & Ale pie. I had the beer battered Haddock Fish and chips, the fish batter was crispy and full of texture with a great taste and beautifully seasoned, the Haddock was cooked to perfection, flaky, light and fresh, the chips were really stand out, probably some of the best I've had. The service couldn't have been more helpful & attentive , my young son decided he didn't want his original choice (once it had been served) and wanted fish as he'd seen mine, we asked for a child's portion of fish on its own, and without fuss we were catered for, a short while after a fresh fried piece of fish arrived. Desserts, we're of the same quality and standard to the mains, my mother in law said the Baileys profiteroles were the best she had ever had. A lovely way to end our holiday.More

First time visiting in years and not disappointed. Visited after a trip to the fruit farm for lunch with the family. Sat outside to eat in the lovely spacious garden - ordered two of the fish goujon sandwiches and one of the chicken BLTs, all...of which were fantastic. Also ordered the scampi for our 19 month old - huge portion and she loved it! Staff were all lovely and the food got to us really quickly too. Would love to make regular visits in the future!More

I cannot recommend this pub more highly. I think it’s under new management and with a new chef so don’t know what it used to be like. We were a party of 30 with complicated individual orders and everything was delivered exactly as promised ....Without exception all starters , mains and puddings were good . I would definitely recommendMore

We have visited The Woolpack twice since their refurbishment and were very impressed by the food, service, staff, in fact by everything. However when we went there this evening, we were disappointed to have 2 of our 4 meals served rather dried out, so the...delicious pie and quality roast lamb weren't very nice. Vegetables were fine. Also, the gravy for the roast meal was incredibly salty. There was no milk brought out with the tea, and when asked for some, the waitress apologised then forget again to bring any milk! The tea was so weak, I didn't drink much of it. Decent tea is always very important. Good points: Friendly, smiley staff. Cold drinks were good. Quality of food was mostly fine. Lovely setting. Very clean and comfortable.More

There is absolutely nothing bad anyone can say about this lovely little pub. From the minute you walk in you are made to feel welcome, it’s clean & tidy and staffed by a really friendly, helpful & attentive team. The food was delicious, beautifully prepared...& presented & despite being fairly busy, not a long wait for it. We’ll definitely be back!More

Excellent Sunday lunch! We chose the roast lamb & it didn’t disappoint. The meat was so tender & the vegetables were cooked perfectly! We ate with a friend who has several allergies - which The Woolpack coped with well. The dessert menu was limited for...someone gluten & dairy free - but we all felt so full after the generous helping of the main course, that we all enjoyed sorbets. The team looking after us we’re attentive.More

We were on holiday in nearby holiday accommodation which was lovely and the pub opposite very convenient. Food good but we were woken up most mornings by the Woolpack emptying their glass collection - earliest was about 5am Staff rude when this was mentioned and...wanted our home name and address, bit intimidatingMore

Went for Sunday lunch. Staff were lovely. Our table had a mixed order off the menu, Sunday roasts and other options. Sunday roasts were good portions but unfortunately the 2 roast porks servings were so full of white, slimy fat they were all but inedible....It said pork shoulder, which is a fatty cut, but was 70% slimy white fat. One was sent back but when it came back the pork wasn’t really any better and the quick re-plating meant the kitchens had missed off half the vegetables and the crackling square. Prices were on the slightly higher side for what you would expect to pay for a Sunday lunch so we expected better. I think we would go again, but with such a choice of other venues available we would probably try elsewhere first.More

Wonderful good quality food and table service today. We had steak and ale pie, haddock, chips and a vegan burger. All of which were delicious, hot and fresh. To me the pub seems in better order since it has changed hands and hasn't lost any...of its charm! Worth a visit.More
