Down to earth pub brilliant Fish and Chips. The very best fish huge portion only £8. Fresh chips cooked by the landlord who cares about his food. No other choice and only on a Friday.

Avoid at all costs. We went for lunch. No customers. The landlord was busy reading his newspaper. When he deigned to acknowledge he had a customer , his brusque ' we don't do food ' was unbelievable. Avoid at all costs.

Went to this pub on a Saturday night during a disco night. It was a great atmosphere with everybody in the pub joining in. We had a lovely champagne which was opened with a sabre for a unique experience. Would visit again!

Arrived by bicycle with a small group, landlord was rude to us before even setting foot inside the pub. So we took our trade, down the road to Ring of Bells where we had a warm welcome, and spent over £120.

Went to the pub with friends and family over xmas. Had a few rounds of drinks. One of the ladies wanted a coffee and was told a very firm "no" as the pub was "too busy". Won't be coming back

Historic building with a friendly feel as soon as you enter. The real ale is well kept and the wine selection good. The regulars were welcoming and the proprietors charming. Just a shame that there is no food at the moment.

The Bishop John is now doing food Thursday - Saturday night and Sunday lunch. On Fridays the menu is limited to Fish and Chips (with mushy peas) as either eat in or takeaway. The quality of the Fish, Chips and Peas is excellent, consistent and...More
