Ristorante La Tagliata presents a divisive atmosphere where some guests delight in its vibrant vibe and music, yet others find it excessively noisy and catered to tourists. Visitors often express frustration over the long wait times for seating, service, and the shuttle. While the service receives a varied response—some commend it as friendly and accommodating, others are disappointed by inefficiencies and inconsistent timing of the food service. Opinions on the cuisine also vary, with some appreciating the ample, farm-fresh meals, and others lamenting over what they perceive as hasty and uninspired dishes. The restaurant's value is similarly debated; generous portions earn praise from some, but the food's quality and flavor are points of contention for others.

La Tagliata offers great, locally sourced food at a very reasonable fixed price. Staff was extremely friendly and the food and wine were plentiful. The restaurant offers transportation pick up from your hotel, and although the ride is windy up the side of the mountain, it's worth the journey. The night we ate at La Tagliata there was a thunderstorm and power outage, but the evening rolled on as if nothing happened. We were greeted with a delicious antipasti platter with home grown vegetables and cheeses made on site. The main course was a hearty platter of a variety of meats (beef, pork, chicken, rabbit, sausages), which was followed by a tasty mixed dessert platter. You won't leave hungry! The bottomless homemade wine was also very good. The candlelight dining with occasional lighting flashes over the Mediterranean and a restaurant full of singing patrons made for a very special dining experience.

With over 4000 positive reviews we decided to give La Tagliata a try on our final night in Positano. The restaurant offers a complimentary shuttle service that picked us up from our hotel in Positano. Upon arrival we were greeted by our host who briefed us on the family nature of the business and that the produce comes from their farm. To begin with we were served with local wines. A bottle of red and white - both were superb. For the first course an array of vegetables, meats and cheeses were served to us. These were all beautifully seasoned and prepared. The next course comprised of a selection of pasta. I particularly enjoyed the ravioli and the other tomato based pasta. We primarily came to this restaurant for the meat course because my partner felt that he had been swindled by the prices in Positano and this course did not disappoint us. From chicken to lamb, to rabbit to beef - all meats were seasoned to perfection, tender and delicious. Next we were presented with an array of traditional desserts. A rich dark chocolate cake, a rum profiterole, a pistachio profiterole and the Nonna cake. All of these were delicious but I highly recommend that you save room for the Nonna cake and pistachio profiterole!! The service was attentive and the staff made us feel welcome and part of the family. The meal was a very modest price - and not just in Positano terms. We wish we had come here twice! Thank you La Tagliata! A beautiful grand finale to our last night in Positano.

Top service but the antipasti could have been more hot. Don’t have to wait a long time to get served. If you are two, I advise you to take antipasti for two but only one plate of mixed meat as per your get sausage, pork, chicken, rabbit, beef, etc. and even two people have a hard time to finish it. Also, you should go for lunch as per you will enjoy the beautiful view and it costs less. All meat and products come from their farm and garden that you can visit. Just sad to see the animals that will end up eventually in a plate.

I stopped by this place with my Italian fiance and mother-in-law. We were keen to try one of their dishes for lunch. Instead we left without eating. The waiter said they only serve the whole menu or at least two dishes, so starter and pasta, or pasta and main course. The point is that they serve 6 different dishes only as a starter and different kids of pasta with as a maincourse 7 types of meat!! This was way too much for us. The waiter told us if this was too much to finish we could just leave it. In my opinion this does not show many respect for the food. The waiter also insisted we took a bottle of wine and at that point we stood up and left. The waiter gave us impression that we didn't want to spend too much money. We were actually considering to organize a dinner there the evening before our wedding in September with 100 guests but we were so disappointed we won't go back. A real pity because the restaurant is pretty and the view amazing.

I have been coming to this area for 50 years, and this was one of the best experiences I have had. The food was amazing, a lovely selection of vegetable dishes to start, an amazing selection of Mama’s homemade pasta, and some gorgeous desserts. I am so sorry I was not hungry enough to try the meat, as that too looked fantastic. Everyone was super friendly, and we were allowed to walk around the garden, and take away some huge tomatoes for our supper. Water, wine, limoncello and all the food came to €35 per person. The views were to die for, like being a god overlooking the most spectacular vista in the world. Came with my sister, only stopped on a whim after the restaurant in Nocelle was closed due to Covid, and it was the best luck we could of had, best meal and experience of the whole holiday. Really can not recommend the place enough. We drove from Sant’Agata and it was less than 30 minutes and the most amazing drive.

Everyone had recommended this as a "must go to eatery". It's a whole "shpiel". First you walk to a nearby hotel where a driver picks you up and climbs way up the mountain to the restaurant. They is no menu - food in courses is brought out in Quantity! It's all the wine you can drink as well as all the food you can eat. The food is good, not great. But it's the entertainment that makes the night. One of the family comes around work s guitar and before you know you're singing all the Neapolitan songs you've ever heard of - "O some mio", "Funiculì funiculà", "Santa Lucia", etc. Don't miss it!

All of the reviews online raved about this spot- “new menu items every night, family owned, local spot…. “ however, this is far from the truth. For the first half of the meal, I’ll admit, my table and I were convinced that “momma and poppa” were truly cooking the entire meal. When it came to the meat course, we grew skeptical, asking our waiter how it was possible that an old woman was cooking up obscene amounts of food for this many tourists…However, he assured us that “momma” was the only one in the kitchen, it’s the tradition. Once he leaves, the guests at the table next to us tell that when they went down to the restroom they peaked in the kitchen, only to find a staff full of middle aged men, no “momma” in sight. Not only were we uncomfortable that our tacky waiter lied through his teeth, but we grew disgusted at the copious portions in front of us. The restaurant prides itself on quantity over quality, as all the tables around us are leaving the majority of their meats and pastas untouched because they stuff you with an absurd amount of below average antipasti beforehand. The waiter didn’t even flinch at how much we left on the table, even though we felt sorry for leaving so much to waste. But that’s not all! For the one dish we did enjoy, the ravioli, we inquired with our waiter what was inside. He told us the sauce had “pork and meat.” When we asked what the meat was, he claimed it was full of “beef, chicken, lamb, rabbit, kebob…don’t worry about it!” Not only was it bizarre that he told us not to fret about what we were digesting, but it was obvious he had no idea what was being prepared. So much for an authentic, farm to table spot, huh? Overall, don’t try this spot. The staff seem like they’re putting on a performance for oblivious tourists, the gnocchi tasted store bought, the wine cheap, and the desserts frigid and stale from a freezer. Don’t forget that the waiter gypped the table next to us- unable to break a 50 and taking the extra change, while additionally asking the Americans around him for an extra tip if they’re “feeling generous.”

Absolutely fantastic family restaurant that was at the end of Path of the gods. Home cooked pasta by grandma a full barbecue menu and bottle of wine all for 35€. Just what you need after a heavy hike. Also breathtaking view over Positano and Capri!

This place is impeccable! The view is second to none, the food was just 100% on point, the waiters were engaging, friendly and love what they do. We had the most incredible time, it’s not only one of the best dining experiences we’ve had but definitely one of the most memorable. The sunset was breathtaking! As everyone says, come hungry & enjoy every mouthful of this delicious meal- we were really pleased that the main meal was a platter of incredible meat, as we needed a break from seafood that is usually the focus in this region. The transfer to and from Positano was a perfect addition to make this experience even more seamless for us. This is, without doubt a “must do” for your Amalfi experience!

We called to book a space and then reconfirmed with the restaurant via email closer to the date. They were very accommodating and assisted us with changing our shuttle pickup etc. On the day we waited a little white for the shuttle to pick us up (very common and nothing that was a bother to us) and then we were driven all they way to La Tagliata. Top tip I would recommend reserving and arriving on the first shuttle (ours was at 6:15) as when you enter you get your pick of seating. The views are indeed beautiful. We were greeted by the team and were given a bottle of wine each (I drink white and my husband drinks red :) then the food starting arriving (and never stopped!). We had bruschetta, a platter of cheeses and prosciutto to start, then 3-4 plates of starters such as chickpeas, peas, eggplant etc. Then a large plate with 4 types of pastas for us to sample, then a tray of bbq like rabbit, chicken, pork and beef. Finally there was dessert (3 cake slices) and lemoncello to end the night. We were totally, totally full and everything was delicious. We came in on labour day so there was also a band that sang a few songs which allowed for a very festive atmosphere. The lovely lady cooking also came out in the end of the night to greet everyone. As mentioned below the price was 50 euro per head, we were made aware that tip was not included so this made us feel a bit obliged, though of course in Italy tip isn't necessity as in other locations. We did enjoy the meal so left a tip. Once most people were finished we were taken back by the shuttle. We would highly recommend the experience, a tasty authentic meal!

Most of the negative reviews below reflect what we experienced. I’m genuinely confused by the positive ratings of this place… where did they go? La Tagliata felt like Disneyland and a total tourist trap. I research restaurants in depth when I travel and came across multiple sites that recommended Tagliata. We were excited about going here on our first night in Positano. However, they herded us in and out of the restaurant like cattle for three seatings a night and offered zero explanation of the food. It was fine and the view was nice, but the experience itself was wholly unmemorable other than being treated with zero attention or care. Per what others have mentioned, they threw the food at our table, which did indeed look a bit like a microwaved mess. Wine was unlimited but also crap. We tried to inquire about which of the foods were grown at the farm and our server was unable to answer, leading me to think the majority of "farm to table" that they tout is just a schtick. Do not take the shuttle; it did not come on time for many guests, they packed us in like sardines, and it did not feel COVID-safe. Could not and would not recommend to a friend.

If you are looking for all you can drink wine, below average Italian food at a cheap price this is your place. The portions are massive, but the pastas and meats are very mediocre. All you can drink wine helps you stomach the food. Service is non-existent as 2-3 waiters serve courses rapid fire to 50 guests per seating (3 per night 6,8,10). The shuttle bus up to the restaurant takes 30 minutes and is very disorganized (it will be 15 mins late and May have enough seats for everyone). The shuttle back is a public bus. Good luck standing for the half hour down the windy roads on the mountain if you don’t get a seat. Good for groups looking for lots of wine and a full stomach on a budget, otherwise avoid.

From the moment you arrive at La Tagliata, the views of this part of the Amalfi Coast looking over Positano really are breathtaking...it makes the bus ride up the hill completely worth it, the food and wine to follow will not disappoint either. The atmosphere of the restaurant is relaxed and welcoming, with thanks to the attentive service of staff. An Italian family run the farm & restaurant which adds to the authentic cuisine. Most dishes are cooked with home grown seasonal ingredients, one dish called 'Mama's Pasta' was a particular favourite of mine. You pay a flat rate for your meal which includes a different variety of starters, mains, desserts and wines, potentially some limoncello also. All were delicious. For a €2 bus ticket from Positano, it really is a must!

This is our fourth time in Italy and this ranks as one of the best meals ever. We went for lunch after taking a 25 euro taxi from near the beach up into the hills. The taxi ride alone was worth it. We took amazing photos all the way up. The restaurant is beautiful! Service incredibly friendly and course after course of fresh farm to table food. The farm is right below the restaurant and also beautiful! We saw people involved in their cooking classes and they were having so much fun we were jealous. If it wasn’t our last day in Positano we were have gone back the next day for a class. Our entire five course lunch including almost two bottles of wine and the lemoncello they bring with dolce was only 90 euros!

This was recommended to us by Chef Carmen while we did a private cooking lesson with her. We travelled to positano on the bus with a 24 hour ticket from sorrento to positano for just €10. From positano this restaurant have their own free shuttle service where they will pick u up from positano and bring u up the mountains to their restaurant. You are seated under the pergola with views no camera can properly capture. The evening is €50 per person including food, wine, shuttle to and from positano and even some local live music. The food never stops. It is soo good and tasty and most grown or reared on their farm. My advise is bring a dish. U will not be able to finish it and the next day you will be craving another bite. U get sooo much excellent food and steaks and desert. One thing tastier than the other. If it is a special occasion be sure to request a table at the front as the views are just unreal. Enjoy.
