One of the greatest meals of my life with an even better view. If you get the chance, you need to eat here. They send a car and the whole experience is worth every moment. THIS is authentic Italy.

We have been in Positano for almost 2 weeks. Dining out in all of the top rated restaurants. This was our last night here and definitely saved the best for last! Rifugio is, by far, the absolute best all-round dining experience here! The shuttle was...easy and comfortable as we made our way to the highest point in Nocelle (high above Positano). The most spectacular view. Like other reviews said... definitely get there for Sunset - spectacular! The decor is incredible... every detail - nothing spared and extremely tasteful. The food (even the bread) was amazing! We shared the Octopus Salad. I had the pasta with pork and truffles. My wife had the Lamb. All dishes were outstanding! We then had the banana and ice cream dessert... Awesome. The portions weren't huge but we were absolutely full. They then brought out a small dish of incredible pastries. Seriously... this is a Positano MUST go to resto! Everyone at the restaurant had the exact same sentiments.More

We appreciated the free shuttle but the driver chatted with a lady in the car on the way up to the restaurant and completely ignored us. On arrival at the restaurant, the other couple and their dog were hastened along the pathway to the restaurant,...leaving us behind. I cannot walk fast and we weren't sure where to go. On reaching the restaurant, we again felt ignored. It was a good 15 to 20 minutes before we were offered a drink and a further 15 minutes after that to get them. In the meantime, our travel companions had drinks and their first course. I am a dog person and have dogs but the attention given to this one was ridiculous. I had booked this restaurant on a recommendation and expected something special. The food was ok at best. I thought I'd experience a dining wow but absolutely not. The starter and main were very pretty but bland. The tiramisu dessert was tart. It tasted/seemed burnt. We then had another gallop back to the transfer vehicle, which made me very uncomfortable. The food, for me, was not at all special in taste although well presented. Can't argue with that. I think the experience was tarnished by the feeling we weren't trendy enough, too old. In fact, I felt really uncomfortable. We didn't get the amazing views as our hotel booked the table for 7 which was far too late to see the sunset. Not the restaurant's fault obviously but further upset the evening. Drinks were ridiculously over priced. We eat out at similar restaurants regularly but won't return here. Also, please ask your staff not to pet dogs at the table and then bring my food. When the bill is 175 euros for two I don't think that's unreasonableMore

5 stars First of all; Amazing view! Make sure to book in advance and get a table with a view. We had the tasting menu with wine paring - everything was delicious as were the service.

Husband and I visited when staying in Nocelle without a reservation, they accommodated us quickly and with my gluten allergy they were very knowledgeable and kind, even bringing me bread and a special desert. Atmosphere is beautiful, very calm, relaxed and courteous. Yummy food. Thank...you!!More

Just ate here two nights in a row. Both nights were unforgettbale. The food, ambiance, and service was second to none. This should be a Michelin rated place. They also make unbelievable cocktails. I should know, I had 4 Manhattans. If you are anywhere near...Positano, you must have this experience.More

Absolutely gorgeous and unforgettable experience. We stayed above in one of the apartments and had no booking. Nevertheless, we were able to snatch a table at 7.30pm. The food was sensational, reasonably priced and selected with the finest ingredients. Waiters were attentive and polite. The...views outstanding and soft music playing. Very romantic. A must go!More

The positives: The view is spectacular but best to see it for an early dinner/sunset. The staff is very friendly and welcoming. The cocktails were great (but costly). The not so positive: the food was sadly not very good at all. We might be the...odd ones given the other stellar reviews but we stopped eating half way through our meal because it was just lackluster. We ordered the ravioli with shrimp and the fish of the day. Neither tasted fresh and both were lacking in flavor. The ravioli was thick and hard, sauced with a very heavy gravy like glaze. The shrimp on top was fishy. The fish of the day was over cooked, dry, and came with vegetables that were all cooked to varying degrees..some completely soggy and others hard to cut. We love trying new restaurants and were very excited to try this place. However, we found ourselves leaving underwhelmed and still hungry.More

One of the best meals I’ve ever had. Called ahead and got picked up from positano. The chef was incredible but somehow the views were even better. A truly world class meal with extreme convenience. The chef provided extra courses at no charge for appetizers...and dessert. If you go here, you will NOT be disappointed!More

World class meal. Call ahead for free shuttle service from positano. The food was incredible but somehow this view was better. But the service and meal were truly outstanding. I’ve had five star meals at many Michelin restaurants and this is equal or better than...them all. You will not be disappointed with this meal - it is worth it!More

The worlds aligned for a special night. Rifugio dM delivered on all fronts and so did the weather gods. ‘Twas an experience hard to quantify as we were feted like gods and fed like royalty. There was a taste sensation at every turn and there...were many turns. If you want to explore a creative and generous menu, then don’t do the audit. Just enjoy the Amalfi Coast at it’s picturesque best and be fed and looked after by some delightful people. A rare gem. Completely besotted by the experience.More

The restaurant was recommended to us, it's really high up in the mountains above Positano, there are very few places to park up there and the road up there is terrifying. They operate a bus shuttle service from Positano so it's really only viable if...you are staying in Positano. We asked our hotel which was only 10 minutes away from Positano to arrange a taxi but they wanted 180 Euros for the round trip, so we drove and I'm still recovering. It's very pretentious trying to be modern and chic, the staff, apart from the manager who was lovely, are off hand and think they are more important than the guests. There are still a great number of steps to climb even after you have parked so beware if you are not as fit as an Olympic athlete. I ordered the scallops to start and they were stone cold and very small. I then had the Angus steak as the restaurant said it was a specialist steak house, I was amazed when it arrived cut into thin strips and was half cooked - they then brought a hot stone that you were supposed to put the strips of steak on yourself to finish off the cooking process. It was difficult to see in the half-light which parts of the steak you had cooked and which you hadn't. The meat was chewy and ended up being over cooked because I must have left it too long on the hot stone - then you had to remember to turn it over ! I go to restaurants to have the food cooked for me not to do it myself. Then just to finish off two people came and sat at the table next to us and started smoking. The meal was very expensive and the wine was very ordinary . The view from up there is supposed to be amazing on the night we were there low cloud came in and we couldn't see anything, not the restaurants fault but just something to bear in mind. The restaurant looks nothing like the pictures opposite - it's very modern and more like something you would see in a city centre trying to be flash. There are some fabulous restaurants in the Amalfi Coast area but this isn't one of them.More

First and foremost, no meal that isn’t a Michelin Star restaurant should have taken as long as our experience did tonight. 3.5-4 hours- all of our other plans were cancelled due to this. We received a call the day of saying we will pick you...up at 8:30 from your hotel. Our reservation was for 8:30 lol. So, we should have seen this from the beginning. We were supposed to be picked up at 8:30. The driver was super late bc he was at the wrong hotel as the restaurant miscommunicated with him what hotel we were at. We didn’t get to the restaurant until 9:15 pm. Scratch all the beautiful views we were suppose to see. The food is good here. The people are super nice and the concept is great but it was organized chaos. We were quickly left off people’s radar once we arrived. We had to ask for Wi-Fi password bc the electronic menu wasn’t working on cell service. We had to ask for water. We had to ask for a wine list. We had to ask to order wine. We had to ask to order food. Again, for how out of the way this place is and how it started… there was no make up from the team. Still don’t know who our waiter was. There was money left on the table bc we were never asked if we wanted more wine or water. We finally quit asking and asked tor the bill before pasta was delivered. We finished our meal before 11:00. Again I’m writing this as I have asked two different people if we can leave with the “driver” that is suppose to take us back to our room. We figured it out eventually that we weren’t leaving until a solid group of people were ready to leave. This dinner experience had taken almost 3.5 hours and complete waste of our night to do anything else. The saving grace of this meal was the gentleman that spoke NBA basketball on the way back to the van as we’re leaving. It was the most conversation and hospitality I felt when I was there. So was the driver- he was very apologetic for the mistake from earlier. Again, food is good, people are nice… just missed opportunity that took away our only night in Positano.More
