Salty potatoes ruined the meal

Had been looking forward to coming here but sadly left unimpressed. Decor and surroundings were lovely but the food was disappointing. We all had the roast dinner and all found we couldn't eat the roast potatoes as they were incredibly salty. Having raised this with...staff they kindly returned to inform us they'd tasted them in the kitchen and agreed they were inedible. They offered to replace them with roasted new potatoes and we agreed. Sadly it took so long for the new potatoes to arrive that the rest of our dinner had gone mostly cold by then so the meal wasn't exactly enjoyable. We had a desert which was very nice. It was disappointing not to be offered any kind of discount on the bill, I did raise that i was surprised and was told that they did replace the potatoes, well yes, considering the staff agreed they were inedible that was the least we'd have expected them to do.......and it seems it was indeed the only thing they were prepared to do, not even a complimentary drink was offered. Had high hopes it would be our new local go to as we've not long moved in to the area but wouldn't want to risk another ruined meal charged at full price.More

We can only apologise for your disappointment on your very first visit to the LB. We pride ourselves on our food and hospitality. I agree you should have been offered a complimentary drink or compensation for the over salted roast potatoes but pleased you enjoyed...More

Lovely Afternoon Tea

I've just got home after spending a lovely couple of hours with a friend having Afternoon Tea at the Leather Bottle. The food was plentiful, home-made and delicious, with refills of tea and very good service. The conservatory restaurant was light filled, nicely decorated and...very comfortable, and the subtle tinkling of the ivories was an added bonus. We both had a great time and would not hesitate to recommend.More

Gluten free

I am gluten intolerant, they have the best menu and will go out of there way to make all the menu available to me , which is lovely to have a choice , food is excellent,

Old style pub with a modern twist.

The staff were very attentive friendly and knowledgeable about the menu. We have special dietary requirements within our group and they were happy to alter the menu to accommodate our needs.

Definitely be going again

We usually go out from time to time for family anthe d friends occasions, we found the "Leather Bootl" by asking the Internet for public houses doing Sunday lunches and we choose this one had good reviews and not too far from home. What a...goog choice it was, we were shown to our table within a few moments and the attention of the staff was very good, we had starter's, main meal, and a sweet all with drinks. Lovely last minute evening meal

Booked on a whim after reading reviews and was not disappointed! Friendly staff. Great food. Partner had steak pie. I had fish pie. Really tasty and well cooked. Could not ask for more. Will definately return!!

Superb gastro pub

5 of us and a newborn called in to the Leather Bottle on the spur of the moment. So glad we did. Serves proper Adnams beers, menus to cater for everyone from baguettes and sandwiches to full blown meals, even pie mash and liquor. Staff...were very welcoming and attentive. The food was very well presented and plentiful. We had a fantastic lunch and will certainly revisit now we’ve found it.More

Easter Delight

Went today Easter Sunday with friends who hadn't been before. We all loved it. Staff superb, all food served correctly and on time and DELICIOUS. Great value and now defo one of our favourite restaurants. We will be going back, no doubt about it.

Walking club meet.

Came here with our walking club on Good Friday. Friendly and welcoming Country pub who catered perfectly for our group of 20 walkers. Excellent and delicious food,and efficient service made for a very pleasant lunch. Would thoroughly recommend this venue.

A very pleasant afternoon.

I went to the Leather Bottle for an informal lunch with my sister having been told what a nice place this was. We were not disappointed. The food, atmosphere and service could not be bettered and neither could the good selection of wines. Overall a...lovely experience that I will be duplicating very soon.More

Restaurant for all occasions

Love this place. Have been here for a quick bite to eat with the other half and also for an evening meal with my friends. Food is great, staff are so lovely too. They get some great entertainment in some nights. If you haven't been...here, I'd highly recommend it.More

Perfect in every way

Unhappy visit

Unhappy with our visit last week. The food was lovely when it finally arrived. Seeing as we were the only people in there for a while could not understand why food took so long to arrive. When I asked if we could place our order...the girl told someone else to take our order. “Take that order will you!” We felt that we were being a nuisance. I told them when booking it was a birthday celebration, but this was not acknowledged whereas on previous occasions they had. We won’t be going back, a shame because all the previous occasions we have enjoyed our visit.More

A little gem

Went on Saturday night. The service / front of house team was very friendly & good. Food delicious and hot. Drinks arrived promptly. Venue is small but spacious. Nobody sits on top of each other. The specials was rather limited with had excellent pasta whilst...the main menu had plenty of variety. Overall a very nice experience.More
