A truly beautiful spot, off the beaten track and still sought out by travellers from near and far due to the title 'most beautiful place in the world' in Geo Magazine. I had the best roesti there and met amazing people (I was travelling alone), locals and travellers. I'll be back.

Well, walk up from the bottom, will take you about 4 hours ... if you walk nice and slow and you will be there for early lunch. Which is good, because it can get really crowded, so you want to get down the mountain around 13:30. But YES ... order your Rösti, an Appenzeller Quälfrisch Beer and you feel on... More

This sort of famous restaurant is really worth visiting ! Especially in summer when you can sit outside on the patio enjoying the incredible view ! Food & drinks are a bit on the pricier side due to the understandable fact, that the transport of the the food/drinks up there isn't any easy & quick task ! Recommended also if... More

Went up there for a short walk, had to take about 40minutes to walk down from the cablecar station. We ate some traditional food like "Rösti" and had a real good dessert called "Hölenmerengue". Had a wonderful stay there.

Since this restaurant has appeared on a Geo magazine it's apparently the hype of the area and has increased tourism in the Appenzell region (so a local told me). It's obvious though with the amount of people walking up and down from the cable car station. It's well worth it on a good weather day. The food (roesti with fried... More

This place refreshes all your senses. One of the best places to have food and beer. We had our walk from the cable car to the restaurant, the walk was awesome with beautiful views and caves. The place was quite busy when we got there. The beer was refreshing and the food was great.

The cost getting here was cheap. The cost of walking down from the cable car and back up to it was breath taking, literally. Know there are a few strategically located benches that allow one to climb back up in stages. But what really cost me, as I am afraid of heights, was the last 100 m down the trail... More

We went to the top of the mountain by cable car which was a very pleasant experience, these mountains are spectacular and so worth the trip and experience...we ate at this restaurant Rösti which is hash browns with Swiss sausages and fries eggs, amazing food, despite it was packed and we had to wait on a table for almost 40... This is a destination, regardless of the food! The Ebenalp cable car takes you up the mountain, then you have a slippery walk down a ways on gravel, but it is not steep, just long! Finally you arrive at this unbelievable guest house built into a cliff. Despite the effort, this is a once in a lifetime experience, the most... More
