1. Trais Portas does not meet current Covid regulations - our room had a window which was screwed shut - could not be opened. Required distances between tables were not adhered to.They also do not register visitor information. It is likely that the diners who...are able to be outdoors in the garden have a much better experience as regards Covid regulations as well as ambiance. Further, the second floor is reached thru very steep, high step stairs, so not recommended dining for anyone who has short legs (children) or people with difficulty climbing/descending stairs. 2. Dinner was served almost an hour and a half after we placed the order, with no interim bread or small appetizers being served - that‘s a major problem for a family with young children. When inquired, the answer was that we were late for our reservations (15 mins), and therefore were at the bottom of the list as far as the kitchen was concerned. No further apologies or accommodations were offered. The food was good, but not outstanding as one might expect; for example, the hamburgers were good, but do not impress at the level of their hefty price The spare ribs should be quickly grilled before service - they were not. All in all a disappointment; I would not rate them as top restaurant in Scuol.More

We booked the day before for a meal at Trais Portas since it was #1 in TA for Scuol. The service was great, and the various rooms are very atmospheric. We had a classic old green ceramic coal fired heater in our room. I had...the basic steak, and my partner I think had a burger. I should have forked out for one of the better cuts of meat because what I had was quite tough and far from the most flavorful steak I've ever had. Overall, great for location, service -- a good choice for a meaty meal, but not the best food we had in Scuol.More

We really enjoyed our supper here. I had venison and my wife had a burger. The portions were generous but not overwhelming. The food was really delicious and the wine - a half-litre bottle - was excellent. They also have a good selection of grappas....By Swiss standards the restaurant was not expensive at all. The service was very friendly and attentive. The restaurant is located in a 400-year-old building and is beautifully appointed. Trais Portas is a little off the beaten track but still very central. I can highly recommend this place.More

Autumn is off-season in many places, including the Engadine. Many places are closed just before the run-up to the winter ski crowd. Nonetheless, we got a quiet table at Trais Portas and were treated to tasty well-presented plates of wild game.

This restaurant is set in an old charming building. Unfortunately our table was in a small dark room which would have been charming in winter but not so much in summer (our fault because we booked at the last minute but we would have liked...to know). The service was very friendly and welcoming but at times we were forgotten. Food is good and portions generous. We recommend the place but if you can, ask to be in the main hall or the terrasse.More

This tiny 400-year-old bar/restaurant is off Scuol’s main avenue, but it is well worth the climb up the narrow street to find it – if you enjoy meat. We had Christmas Eve dinner here and it was a perfect combination of excellent cuisine, friendly and...professional service and a charming ambience. The beef filet was perfectly cooked and practically melted in the mouth. The spare ribs were amazing and the barbeque sauce was a delicate balance between sweet and tart. Rolf, the owner and waiter, was knowledgeable about wine and provided efficient, friendly service and will give you a thorough explanation of the other meat offerings, which include bison and reindeer. To top off the dinner, you must try the Toblerone mousse.More

If you are in Scuol, do not miss this place! It’s a must. It’s inside an old house, and one finds it’s way to the restaurant up the narrow side stone staircase (which is pretty awesome as you have a feeling you’re finding a path...that’s hidden to others). Interior design is beautiful. Dark wooden floor, authentic furniture and lit candles, give this place a special charm. We were greeted by a wonderful host, whose passion and energy was so clearly and visibly in this restaurant. We heard stories of different menus and what makes them the way they are; we got a small tour of an Italian grappa maker (if you like grappa, ask for a Nanino Chardonay!), and we were brought to laughter many times by the witty Trois Portas host. The dishes were wonderful: My husband and I were there in October, so the restaurant offered a variety of wild but also regular (beef and pork) meat, with tasty and healthy side dishes. In the end, do not miss the Toblerone mousse! We had to share one, because the meals before didn’t leave a lot of free stomach space ☺ Don’t forget to reserve, it seems to be busy, even in the off-season. Next time I’m in Scuol, I’ll definitely go there again.More
