We were a party of 4 wanted to have a light lunch to our way to Bern. Not really welcomed, asked us 3 times whether we wish the fondue just for 1 person. We got a fondue, a plate of hams and macaroni. Both fondue...More

A very pretty and comfortable environment (especially the upper dining room), super cozy and warm on a cold winter day. The fondue was pretty good though extremely pricey. The cheese quiche was excellent. Service was not especially charming but efficient.

Stopped in for a hot chocolate and were enticed by their gruyere mac ‘n cheese. It was fantastic. The atmosphere is like a warm chalet. We found the staff a bit distracted, but we don’t know German either.

Food quality, decoration , staff...everything is very nice. Prices are slightly high but well. I guess its to be expected in this area. Still worth the stop. Desert with crème double and fruits are fresh and good quality

Gruyeres is famous for its cheese, so what better place to have Fondue? This is a rather excellent restaurant with good service and great food. There is an extensive menu and it is perfect for the vegetarians.

Have lunch here while visiting Gruyeres, not to be missed!!! Best fondue ever!!! Try the Raclette too, and the amazing merengues! We also had a Grand Cru white wine that was delicious and correctly priced, an excellent choice.

We had cheese fondue, of course! Our meal also consisted of ham steak, potatoes, pickles and onions … plus local red wine (the server really felt it should be white, but we insisted on red). It was all very good and we would eat there...More

Charming atmosphere, but totally agree with Manzetti, the fondue is too liquid with too much alcohol, and 8 to 10 francs more than one would pay elesewhere. Otherwise the wine, dried meats plate and service were all good.

Depends on time of year of your visit, if you want to lodge at the chalet and want to go during the winter months, I would suggest at least 4 months prior; if for just lunch/dinner, a day ahead.

Welcome to the Chalet de Gruyères L'è avui le lathi de la Grevîre k'on fâ lè mèyà fremâdzo! or welcome to the Chalet de Gruyere, says the shepherd from Gruyere with a glow in his eye. He is proud of his origins, just as he is proud of the recipes he inherited from his father: that of the Gruyere cheese and the Fribourg Vacherin - two wonderful cheeses from the region whose reputation have gone way past our borders for decades. Every summer, the shepherds and their flocks go up to the high pastures of Gruyere for several months. The rough and tasty grass, mixed with the Alpine flora, gives the milk its particular flavor. In the evenings at the chalet, after they have milked the cows, the men with sun weather-beaten faces already know which flavors will prevail from the many hectares of wild flower meadows.
