Good traditional local food, friendly and quite fast service. The only weak point is small outside terrace.

A wonderful lunch. A very good fondue, followed by an excellent ice-cream Sundae with local double cream. The staff were very helpful, providing colouring pencils and a colour sheet for our small children. I would highly recommend booking as it was very busy with people being turned away...

The Chalet - this is a typical authentic regional wooden Building ... you must go and see also inside ... and experience their great Swiss specialites. Try Gruyere Cheese Fondue ..(or moitie/moitie) one of THE best you can have Try any other Cheese dishes on the Menu.. As a starter don't miss the air dry beef (Bundnerfleisch) and other type... We came to this place wth my 70 years old parents and my partner for lunch. We were told it's fully booked and asked go back not earlier than 4-5. No one took our name or proposed to reserve a table. We came back at 5pm and were told off again but they took our names for the booking. We... More

Dear Madam, Dear Sir, I refer to your dissatisfaction with your welcome in the restaurant Le Chalet in Gruyères. I believe with you that it is impossible to meet this kind of experience in our restaurant and you are quite right to expect from us, quality of service and like for the food. As Director of the company, it is... More

Typical place in the village. The fondue with the local cheese was very tasty, as well as the complementary meat we ordered. But the best of all was the dessert, the icecream with griottes and the double cream was fantastic. The price a bit high, specially the wines,

I went with a friend and we had a fondue for two. It came with bread, potatoes and little cucumbers and onions. It was really good. At first I thought that the combination of the cucumbers and onions with the cheese would not be good, but it was. The price was not expensive for Switzerland. I would repeate.

You love a beautiful scenery of green hills, cows, a beautiful clean small village, a beautiful castle on top of a hill, the famous sculpture museum of the Swiss artist HR Giger with its picturesque bar? Great - BUT after sightseeing and enjoying the Swiss French region around Fribourg/Bulle, 10 min drive from the motorway you HAVE TO eat a... More

If you want to try a local cheese fondue, you have to go here! The cheese is incredible, the environment looks very local, and the waiters are good. White wine recommended.

Stop in for desert with traditional Gruyere cream. Wonderful views of the Medieval city as you eat. The décor is very Swiss everything is a little exaggerated for the tourists but still very much worth a visit. Deserts were 16 franc each.

I rate my experience 5 Star given we did not have a lot of time for lunch but the service was fast and effective and I had the best quiche there I ever had! It is decorated in typical swiss fashion and waitresses dressed i traditional attire with swiss music. The menu offers a variety of swiss cheese and meats... More

Description
Welcome to the Chalet de Gruyères L'è avui le lathi de la Grevîre k'on fâ lè mèyà fremâdzo! or welcome to the Chalet de Gruyere, says the shepherd from Gruyere with a glow in his eye. He is proud of his origins, just as he is proud of the recipes he inherited from his father: that of the Gruyere cheese and the Fribourg Vacherin - two wonderful cheeses from the region whose reputation have gone way past our borders for decades. Every summer, the shepherds and their flocks go up to the high pastures of Gruyere for several months. The rough and tasty grass, mixed with the Alpine flora, gives the milk its particular flavor. In the evenings at the chalet, after they have milked the cows, the men with sun weather-beaten faces already know which flavors will prevail from the many hectares of wild flower meadows.
