Food tasted worse than a normal tourist food level, can't understand why it is difficult to cook schnitzel - the national food in Germany. That's ok since it's a tourist area but the service is the worst experience ever. They are impatient, 'take it or leave it' attitude. Succeeded to mixed the order on many things and yelled at us... It was somewhat chilli spring day, so we've decided to have lunch inside, as the ambience seemed more welcoming and cosy. In reality it was freezing inside and not even blankets helped to warm up. Tv-fireplaces looked ironic in the middle of it, could use the real one. The food was nothing to write back home, mediocre at least.

Nice view but That was the best. Had a steak And asked for a bloody one, but it was destroyed overcoced And tasted nothing. We all wondered about the beer it had a rare taste. It was like it was mixed out with water.

On my first visit to Cochem 10 years ago I remember visiting Ellis Schnitzelhaus with it's stunning view over the Mosel. I was back there last week and nothing much has changed. It's a reasonable priced Schnitzel with a choice of sauces a pile of fries (or roasted potatoes) a range of beers and wines or soft drinks all for... More

We as a family love German schnitzel and we loved this place. Both kids and adults loved it and it was very reasonably priced. With a lovely table with a view over the river it was a lovely meal we would go again.

Ate here twice in 5 days, simple yet excellent! Lots of varieties on the German classic. The staff were polite and helpful as you would expect.

Eight people in our group - 4 adults and 4 children. Staff made a effort to seat us together. Food was (the clue is in the title) mostly schnitzel. This suited kids and most of adults but I'm vegetarian and although I'll eat the odd fish I had only one choice - a pretty average tuna salad. General consensus is... More

This was our least-favorite place to eat in Cochem. Sub-par food, seemed very touristy. Nice view from the upstairs, overlooking the river, though.

We were just into Cochem and had dec used to get dinner. The place looked nice and it seemed busy. The service was nice and friendly but the food was just not good. They serve schnitzel almost exclusively. You'd think the main thing they make would be good however it was not well prepared. The breeding was think and gummy... More

The waiter was waiting for me to tip him which would have been very far-fetched considering the lousy food and service. Also, they did not accept credit cards which seems a bit 1980-ish. This place is a big no-no.

Description
The water I ordered had a strange taste, my baked fish had no flavor and was very fatty, the fries were not cooked through. When I asked for remoulade or mayonnaise I got a normal supermarket plastic bottle of mayonnaise on the table. My husband’s schnitzel was not really what a german would expect and the portion was pretty small. Later he had tummy pains and diarrhea. All of this plus a beer costed 19 euro.
The toilet was not that clean (the smell of old and mould rushed me out).
