Kloster Machern is part of an old monastery originally built in 1238 - now an expanded facility with its own micro brewery where they produce three beers - mostly consumed on the premises. Great atmosphere and great beer - we come for dinner as a group twice a year.

Very nice traditional food served on the outdoor patio area. The salads and grilled meats were excellent with competent service--and the weather helped make it a great day This old cloister is now a commercial center, but in addition to keeping the grounds and old building up, they have kept the old chapel intact, and the museums on site are... The beer was good and the food would have been great if the sauce on the schnitzel wasn't so salty. Overall it's was a good experience and I would go back for beers.

The beer was excellent (I only tasted the light one). Perfect considering the hot weather and beautiful historical courtyard. Service was mediocre perhaps due to the weather or my old and rusty German dating 30 years back :)

Have visited this place several times, and it never lets me down. The food is typical German; large portions and "rustic" taste. I had; as always, the Schweinhaxe and I didnt finish it this time either... The homemade beer is very good; especially the Hefeweizen. Awesome atmosphere in an unique setting.

We are returning guests here due to the relaxed atmosphere, beautiful Mosel view from the large terrace, welcoming services and reliable, good kitchen. They serve typical German meal, always huge portions and good beer. The cloister has it's own medieval flair and the rose garden is wonderful front of the restaurant. You can always find parking place, reservation in general... More

We recently had a tour that included the Brauhaus at Kloster Machern. The building and the church very beautiful. After viewing the church, we went into the hall and had a tasting of the beers. The pours were very generous and we enjoyed all three of the beers.

This place is so nice and rustic, that the just average food makes quit a contrast. Nothing outstanding to write back home. Expected more.

This is a lovely old abbey that has been restored after years of neglect and turned into a beer manufacturing place and restaurant. The gardens are delightful and lead up to the patios of the restaurant. Any of their beers are most welcome after a mornings hike! The food we tried was delicious and welcome Beef soup, Vienna schnitzel and... More

We made reservations for dinner here, the food was really pretty good & surprisingly affordable, but they don't serve the local popular beer, being they brew their own, now having said that.. Back to the food, the service was top notch, fast & friendly, it's absolutely stunning decor you can't look at enough, but the beer was so awful that... More
