Excellent location. Food was marvellous and their own beer was outstanding. The view over the Moseley was beautiful.

We were taken here by friends and enjoyed it - but go with a big appetite - the portions are enormous!!! The menu is inside a newspaper and it is honest German food served unpretentiously. Plenty of beers to choose and some nice local rieslings too. I had the porky fillet with mushroom sauce and vegetables, and the dish that... More

We didn't stop to eat but enjoyed one of their beer tastings as part of a group tour. We wandered the grounds a bit and enjoyed the old chapel.

A forever favorite--reservations not required but enjoying yourself with friends/family mandatory! The menu is a sale paper, loaded with traditional favs...we always go for the ham hock (haxe)--tasty & one order is really enough for two... English speaking, reasonably priced & ever so friendly...oh & the beer--cold & plentiful!

Kloster Machern is part of an old monastery originally built in 1238 - now an expanded facility with its own micro brewery where they produce three beers - mostly consumed on the premises. Great atmosphere and great beer - we come for dinner as a group twice a year.

Very nice traditional food served on the outdoor patio area. The salads and grilled meats were excellent with competent service--and the weather helped make it a great day This old cloister is now a commercial center, but in addition to keeping the grounds and old building up, they have kept the old chapel intact, and the museums on site are... The beer was good and the food would have been great if the sauce on the schnitzel wasn't so salty. Overall it's was a good experience and I would go back for beers.

The beer was excellent (I only tasted the light one). Perfect considering the hot weather and beautiful historical courtyard. Service was mediocre perhaps due to the weather or my old and rusty German dating 30 years back :)

Have visited this place several times, and it never lets me down. The food is typical German; large portions and "rustic" taste. I had; as always, the Schweinhaxe and I didnt finish it this time either... The homemade beer is very good; especially the Hefeweizen. Awesome atmosphere in an unique setting.

We are returning guests here due to the relaxed atmosphere, beautiful Mosel view from the large terrace, welcoming services and reliable, good kitchen. They serve typical German meal, always huge portions and good beer. The cloister has it's own medieval flair and the rose garden is wonderful front of the restaurant. You can always find parking place, reservation in general... More
