This is probably the most touristy restaurant in Hameln. The restaurant is supposedly the Pied Piper's house from the 13th century (I think). Anyway, they specialize in German fare for obvious reasons. It seemed quite authentic. The room decor was more traditional as well. Overall it was a good dining experience while in Hameln.

A quirky restaurant around the pied piper theme, Rattenfanger = Rat Catcher i had the plain schnitzel which was good - and as per the german way you get exactly that, a schnitzel on a plate with the adornment, so order your sides! the rest of the group were pleased with their meals. service was prompt and well attending. one... Stopped by here after a day of walking around the old town. My wife was drawn in by the promise of roast duck and red cabbage, I mostly just wanted some schnitzel and a beer. Wish granted, my wife said her duck was some of the best she's had, and the jagerschnitzel was good too. Beer was of course great.... More

Fantastic original features with this building from the out side and not disappointed once you step through the doors. The staff were very friendly and service was superb. It made our return with friends great.

Having visited this town on numerous occasions and just walked past, a "collective family " ,actually my sister, decision was made to try here rather than just allow both my brother and law and me to enjoy the Christmas market food and drink, and we were all not disappointed. Fantastic food, drink and service. I have noticed complaints regarding the... More

Me and my boyfriend booked a table for a saturday night and everything was fantastic. They had an english menu and i took the duck while my boyfriend took a schnitzel. We got big portions and the food was amazing!

Business dinner in a charming town with interesting history. Rattenfangerhaus provide a historical atmosphere with candle lighting, post & beam accents to highlight one of the many charming dinning rooms. Great food, perfectly seasoned, exactly as ordered. A must see and eat location in Hamelin.

Limited menu choices - no lighter options. Portion sizes were huge but everything was deep fried or swimming in dressing. Not the best restaurant experience. If you have limited German possibly not the best place to eat - inital enquires re a table where met with a rather abrupt response.

This evening we were at the Rattenfangerhaus in Hameln, Germany. We had the specialité of the house "Rats Tails", what else in Hameln. This dish has to be ordered prior to your visit as it is preparered at your table and takes approximately 25 minutes. It is based on very thinly cut pork filet but, believe me, it is delicious.... Out with English friends, we chose a restaurant offering good German cuisine. Everyone chose a different dish and we were very satisfied with the tasty food and friendly service. Everything was worth its price, too.
