6 of us sat indoors for dinner, a night after eating across the street. Both restaurants are good. We preferred the ambiance at Kachelofen, as well as the service, to what we found elsewhere. The food was great! We had the meat platter, salads, schnitzel, Bratz... And everyone was loving what they ordered. When we come back, I will definitely... More

We had been travelling around Bavaria, when we visited lovely Bamberg. There were 10 of us and we fancied a cool local beet. We sat down at three tables outside and eventually we signaled to the waitress. She took the order from our table of 4 and went inside. After 10 minutes she came out with what looked like our... This is a really nice spot just up from the Schlenkerla. It also offers good outdoor dining options though when we were there it rained! The service is excellent and really friendly. Food is really good. Most of our group are not crazy on German food but this meal was rather good ! Quality of the meat was excellent and... More

An accidental find but superb service, delicious food, sat outside which was perfect on a sunny day. Would definitely recommend to any Bamberg visitor! Super cheap too! Bröst!

This is a local Bamberg smoky beer. A dark red ale with smoky favour and an after taste of bacon! Said to be good for your health. I only managed to drink one beer! There are some 9 breweries in Bamberg

A bit late for lunch, but Kachelofen was still serving. The waitress and proprietor were most welcoming and we were guided from our original choice to two small plates of sausages (both Bamberger and Nürnberger), saurkraut, and potatoes. Excellent, especially along with the local "Rauchbier", not brewed at Kachelofen, but the real thing. Go there, and avoid the large crowds... More

This cute looking restaurant is located close to attractions and looks amazing from outside. Inside it is tiny and cramped, and sharing of tables is usually done. It is fast paced, and you sometimes get the feeling they are waiting to kick you out so the next ones can come in. We ordered the Nurnberger Wurst and Haxe. Both are... More

Try this tavern out. If you are lucky you ll get a seat at one of the tables that you'll have to share ;) Typical German food with the local 'smoked' wheat beer ! We had the crackling pig and sausages with cabbage and potatoes ! Must try.

Not too much food to choose from. Service was OK, not the best. They don't allow dogs, not even outside on the terrace. First time I've seen this.

Authentic atmosphere-feel, sit with the locals and enjoy really good German food -"get to the point" waitresses. Trout was excellent, juicy pork meat with sides of sauerkraut & boiled potatos, the apple dessert (local speciality) was fantastic - crispy baked slices - YUM. Very affordable for the 4 of us, 3 course dinner with a round of smoked beer & local white wine with main course @ Euro 22/pp.
