This restaurant is sensibly priced. The only problem it wishes people to eat early or in the evening at 21.30. Even with empty tables they will not let people sit down beforehand. The food is reliable and the terrace has a pretty view of the port. Whilst the owner Robert is very friendly he is not there in the evenings... More

A busy waterfront restaurant in Cassis, it was hard to choose where to eat and although this menu was slightly more expensive the dishes coming out looked really good. The food was modern, really tasty and good service.

We've eaten at Chez Gilbert multiple times on previous trips and had been looking forward to going this trip. We had a fine experience, as expected. The service was competent, the food was good, the scenery and people-watching was terrific. The reason I wouldn't give it a more than four stars is that nothing stood out as particularly good or... We ate here at the recommendation of our B and B and were not let down. My wife for got the bouillabaisse which was very good. It's a huge portion and can be shared between two if the other person gets a small dish. It overlooks the harbor and is one of the only places that has white table clothes... More

We were recommended this restaurant by the hotel as being the best for sea food. Whilst the location is very good the overall experience was extremely dissapointing. I am quite used to mediteranean cuisine and the food was really poor considering the price and some of the dishes were not that well cooked. Normally we would say something but the... More

We had made a reservation and were welcomed warmly. The menu is very attractive and we had a very well prepared meal. For two persons, we paid 160 Euros including wine and other extras. Would certainly go back!

stayed in Cassis a week, and this is by far the best restaurant in the port - the menu is more varied, food, service was excellent, and of course an incredible location.

All the reviews did not do this restaurant justice. Fantastic bouillabaisse, wonderful service, views of the port and fortress on the mountain, fun music, very French crowd. We stayed in Cassis at the end of our trip to Provence and Chez Gilbert was a highlight of our trip...especially dancing with Jean Yve!!

Was in Marseille to visit Family and decided to try the bouillabaisse in Cassis instead of Marseille (for a change). The Bouillabaisse was absolutely fantastic, deep richly flavoured soup, the correct selection and quantity of fishes and service was fantastic without being overbearing. Millesfeuilles was also delicious.I definitely recommend Chez Gilbert if you're visiting Cassis.

What a shame. My partner and I ate at Chez Gilbert this evening. Unfortunately an otherwise good meal was ruined by the stupid behaviour of male waiter. We had ordered the set menu at 35 euros each plus wines (totalling $250 dollars Australian) not an inexpensive meal!! Sleazy behaviour is not OK in this type of establishment. Disappointed to say...
