We last visited la Pommeraie 18 months ago and were immediately impressed by the new interior - minimalist while retaining the features of an old manoir - oak beams, granite fireplaces... Sunday lunch was a French family affair with many tables hosting 3 generations including many well behaved children. Staff were delightful - a charmingly shy young apprentice shadowed by... More

Visited on our last day of our week long break. Excellent value for money - 2 course lunch menu for 25 Euros. Staff friendly & attentive, Maitre'd English speaking (always helps!!) The chef / proprietor came out after dinner and chatted to us which was lovely as it gave us the opportunity to thank him for such wonderful food and... More

We didn't have reservations, but were well received. Ate the second best dessert I have ever had. Very good food at a reasonable price.

Service was very good, and the food good. However, I didn't feel that it represented really good value for money. Recent restaurant upgrades have been done well, but on the last occasion I went, there were few other diners and it lacked atmosphere.

we have eaten at the manor many times over the last decade. we have always had good meals and exceptional service. The owner/chef often comes to the table after the meal; to check on our experience, and is interested to take on board feedback. on one occasion when one of our party was pregnant the menu was adjusted to cater... Even the fact that the service was painfully slow couldn't stop me giving it a 5. Vire is incredibly lucky to have a restaurant of this standard. The setting and rooms are extremely well-decorated - intimate yet modern. A luscious bar to wait for your table or where to have a digestif afterwards. The food was almost of Michelin star... More

I found this restaurant reading other reviews on Tripadvisor and having had favourable feedback decided to visit. I thought the restaurant was lovely ( an earlier reviewer thought the renovations were in bad taste). Having seen our fair share of French interiors, I can honestly say this one rates as rather stylish. A beautiful refurbishment. We were met with a... More

This restaurant is in the countryside on the Flers road out of Vire and occupies the back side of a substantial stone house with a large conservatory built on from which you have a pleasant view of the garden and the trees and countryside beyond. The tables and chairs are French interior designer modern, ie new, ugly but very comfortable... More

This would have been classed as a 'taster' in the past. A micromeal to say the least. Had it all been on one plate (and it would have fitted) we could have eaten the lot in 10 minutes or less. It took 3 hours or more and had I know that the portions would be so minuscule for Christmas lunch,... More

Holidaying in a Gite in Vire, we found this restaurant in a "Guide des Restaurants du Calvados". It was certainly a find. The welcome was sincere and the evening went on from there. The food was wonderful with a well balanced, interesting choice of courses. The wine list was varied and the prices reasonable for the quality offered. At the... More

Created in 1987 by Georges and Maryse LESAGE, this restaurant took a second start in june 2008 when new owners Masako and Julien GUERARD arrived. Start with Julien's Comtemporary and creative Cuisine and don't miss Masako's fantastic Desserts! Warm welcoming, efficient but discreet, Emmanuel GARCIN's service will turn your meals into relaxing and delicious moments. Last but not least, the whole restaurant has been fully refurbished in december 2014 with a large veranda, confortable at all season, ideal to enjoy the beautiful century-old tree park.
