Staff was friendly. The decor was a bit of a surprise (in a good way) for this part of France. We went on the suggestion from our guest house host. The menu this night was a mix of old (roasted pigeon breast) and more modern...dishes. The food was well prepared and reasonably priced.More

We went to this lovely restaurant last week on the recommendation of our hotel host and we were not disappointed. The decor and ambiance are fantastic with a choice of eating inside or out on Summer evenings. We chose inside as we loved the funky,...modern look. The service was excellent; friendly and welcoming yet very professional. I’m astounded by the comments of a previous reviewer about a lack of a menu in English. Why? Use a dictionary, learn such French or just take a punt! The food was delicious; imaginative and with a good use of seasonal and local produce. The dessert, a Grand Marnier soufflé was a triumph. All in all an excellent experience and we shall definitely return on our next visit to Mazamet!More

We had been to Mazamet several times before and had noticed what seemed to be an ordinary hotel. This year there was the addition of a modern and airy restaurant. Recommended by our hosts at La Villa and proved to be a great choice. Good...selection on the menu and we had a meal of very high quality. Well worth a visit but book in advance.More

Lovely degustation and very reasonably priced. Great wine list. I wished our French was a little better as communication was a little difficult, but the staff were as helpful as they could be. The only negative is it felt a little strange the openness of...the restaurant, I felt like I was dining in the front foyer or lobby.. and the lighting a little bright. Maybe some partitions would help to create some more intimate ambiance.More

I noticed a one star review for the fabulous MetP and was curious to read it. I believe that Tripadvisor is a valuable tool for tourists but must be used responsibly when a review is placed. Poor reviews are justified but they should never be...written in a fit of pique as the effect on hard working restaurant staff can be devastating. This reviewer was upset because there was no English translation to the menu "in a tourist area". The whole of France could be considered a "tourist area". If he, as a French tourist, were to go into a restaurant in Oxford, say, would he get a menu option in French and would the waiter be able to describe in French the food? Of course not. I am left imagining why this English "tourist" received the frost responses from the wonderful front of house staff.More

We recently bought a maison in the area near Mazamet and have wanted to dine at Mets et Plaisirs since we first saw it. We were not disappointed - in fact, we were overjoyed with the experience. The restaurant is nicely laid out and appointed...and the owners and staff were very welcoming and personable. And then there was the meal - fabulous! We chose the entree-plat-desert option and every course - along with the amuse bouche - was extremely flavourful and nicely presented. The saint Jacques entree was very delicate and the lentil-foie gras was a very nice combination. We both had the bar for our main and it was prepared perfectly. We followed up with the frommage (extra charge but well worth it) and then chocolate dessert. Everything was amazing - many thanks to the staff and the chef for making our dinner memorable ! We will be back....More

We stayed at the nearby Villa de Mazamet (which is fabulous) and had dinner here one evening. We had the grazing menu (7 courses) and it was simply sublime. Can't recommend it highly enough!
