Cozy Sunday-night getaway

Coming at the end of a 24-hour travel day from Texas, dinner here was like a cozy embrace from a long-lost French aunt. The quiet aunt who likes to read books like Shawna Seed's "Not in Time." (Not the brassy one who never stops jabbering.) Tuna for S, a kind of sublimely gumboish sausage and rice... read more

I have now eaten here several times on two visits to Villeneuve les Avignon and have always found Bernard a perfect host. How he manages to front a resteraunt of 30 covers, mostly solo, amazes me. The food is good as well. On what is now, I think six visits, both lunch and dinner, I have not had anything but good... More

Had a lovely meal x 4 here, with excellent starters, mains and desserts, all served efficiently by one lady, who coped extremely well with all tables occupied, and the house wine was delightful. 10/10

We were staying in Villeneuve-les-Avignon and got up too late for breakfast so we ventured into the main village for lunch. We found the Salamandre. What a treat! My wife and I selected the red fish, mine with rice and hers with pomme frites (fried potatoes). We started with two appetizers, goat cheese toasts and eggplant cake. What a spectacular... More

One of the better restaurants in the town having spent the last 10 days there and tried a fair number. Served by very friendly owner with good English and large duck portion beautifully cooked. Wife also really enjoyed pork disk. Tried to go back a few nights later but fully booked. Clearly a good sign and worth a visit.

A nice little restaurant. Charming and smiling waitress. Menu on a plate which was carried in and out for each time a new guest arrived. Good variety on a little menu, so everybody found something he/she liked. Tasty food with local ingredients.

After more than 30 long hours of planes and trains and rental cars that ended with a frustrating hour trying to find our hotel in Villeneuve les Avignon, my sister and I stumbled upon this restaurant in a lovely square in Villeneuve. The food and service were so good the first night that we came back the next three nights.... More

We found this the best place in the square to eat in the evening. The service was fast, efficient and cheerful. The food was fresh, imaginative and well prepared.

Popped by for lunch just looking for a light snack but ended up getting a lovely filling meal and a bottle of wine. I can't really speak for my girlfriend's dish but my salade oceane was great. The king prawns were so soft and had great flavour. There was some sort of pesto on them and they almost melted in... More
