This was certainly an experience, every last detail is attended to. The wait staff is amazing and extremely attentive. The food is without a doubt spectacular. You must try the Bresse chicken which is cooked in champagne in a pot that is sealed with bread dough, which bakes on the outside. The wine list is quite extensive, however, VERY expensive.

About 150km South of Paris, the Cote Saint Jacques, with its distinguished third generation fully starred chef, Jean-Michel Lorrain, is probably the finest country cullinary stop on the way to the South, this side of Georges Blanc at Vonnas. The rooms overlook the lovely Yonne river, where the intrepid can hire a barge to explore the canals of France. The... More

There is no way this restaurant could have scored any higher in our opinion. My husband I talked about it for awhile and decided that it was definitely the best dining experience we have ever had. Every detail was perfect from the service to the actual perfect food which was set before us. Our table was challenging as we we... More

La Cote Saint Jacques in Joigny is a tremendously relaxing and quiet place from which one emerges with a new sense of hospitality. The staff of the hotel and the restaurant is welcoming and wonderfully attentive without being overwhelmingly so, and the food is simply divine. Well balanced tastes, perfect ingredients, perfect service. The value for money is really good,... More

We visited La Cote Saint Jacques on the last night of a 7 day honeymoon trip that included time in Paris and in Beaune. After a week of wonderful food and wine, our goal was the Michelin-starred restaurant for an over-the-top end to our trip. We we absolutely delighted by every aspect of both our stay in the hotel and... More

This is a top end establishment which stands out all the more for being in an economically depressed area. We have enjoyed it several times over the past decade. It does all and has all the things you would expect from a 2 Star Michelin restaurant in a less pompous and more roomy setting. You start with champagne in a... More

Excellent modern French cuisine but at a price. Innovative menu and very comprehensive wine list but again not cheap. Service was very good.

We stayed in Joigny specifically to eat at La Cote St Jacques restaurant run by Chef Lorian. It is Michelin rated and our 2 weeks in France was directed by staying in Relais Chateau properties and eating at their Michelin recognized restaurants. CSJ was a good, but not great dinner. There was nothing wrong with the meal or the service,... More

This is one of those meals that one remembers for a very long time. To call this lunch a 'meal' seems pedestrian in the extreme. Firstly we arrived by barge and were welcomed on their quay with electric and water supply for two days - without charge. Thank you for such a welcome. Now to the lunch, hard to find... More
