We ordered duck well-done...it was quacking...and bleeding. When the waiter FINALLY made it back to the table, he took the dishes away then came back several minutes later and asked if the duck was too raw (because we hadn't eaten much of it); we said yes...he said we should have told him (He was never around to tell). We said that's"ok"... This is our third visit to Sarlat la Caneda and we continue to to feel that this restaurant is one of the Best in France for the service and price. The food quality and selections are top rate. Every dish right down to the Baba au Rhum dessert is delicious. The service is top rate even when Tour bus groups... More

Visited today for lunch with friends who live locally - my impression of the restaurant was that the food was to an ok standard but the service was terrible Our waiter would do well to remember that customers pay his wages and a simple smile goes a long way. Whilst the restaurant was reasonably busy for lunch - approx 20... More

We, a retired couple, ate here one night during our stay in Sarlat. It had great ambience and good food. However, being Sunday, it was very busy, since many restaurants do not open Sunday and Monday. It was completely full and understaffed, which meant we had to wait for service to order, and then again between courses. We both started... More

The staff and food at this place is the best. Our veal, duck, desserts, just everything was the best. We ate here two nights in a row, it was so wonderful, I wish I could remember our wait person's name, she had short blond hair and was so awesome. Very hard working staff !

Had the most amazing meal at Le Bistro de l'Octroi on the advice of our private tour guide. The roasted goose leg was perfect, and fettuccini with truffle sauce topped by seared foie gras was heavenly. Wish I could fly right back and have another great meal there today!

I ate here 3 time while in Sarlat, overtime it was wonderful. I ordered veal sweetbreads first with morels, this was delicious as was the cherve salad. I also ordered steak with goose liver, this was exceptional, there was a large chunk of liver on top of my beautiful rare steak, the liver was softer than butter and silky smooth.... More

We were struggling to find somewhere to have lunch in the town. We had noticed this restaurant as we were driving in and it appeared to be busy with local. We were pleased we made the effort to walk back to it. We were found a table in the shade after a friendly welcome. The food was excellent with a... More

Fortunately, we booked as the place was full; as it was every time we passed. This is a well run establishment with waiters who understand the importance of courtesy, patience and a pleasant smile. The food was well prepared and presented and the portions were quite sizeable. The cuisine was French and featured local specialities.
