While staying in a local B & B we made friends with another couple and decided to eat somewhere nice that evening. We chose Le bistro de l'Octroi and were not disappointed. I had a 3 course meal with the goose (house speciality) as my main course and everything was spot on, including personal service. Even the prices were good.... More

Nice place with nice outdoor terrace although close to the road. We ate very well and the service was quick and very nice. Good to pick up dishes in the menus without being mandatory to order the full menu. Also a lot o daily fresh options. Nevertheless the accompanient was the same whatever you order, would have been nice to... More

We went for a meal with friends when we were staying in the area. By far the best meal we had in Sarlat. We went in the evening and the food was excellent.

We had a very nice dinner here our first night in Sarlat. Food was excellent and this restaurant was a short walk from our rental.

It is SO good to get away from the throngs of tourists in the heart of Sarlat - and this restaurant is just a short walk up the street, yet completely away from the hubbub below! We stayed three week in Sarlat and ate here 3 times - and we were never disappointed. Memorable dishes included pasta with foie gras,... More

This about sums up this restaurant, recommended to me by a friend. We were the greeted by a waitress who questioned whether we had a reservation (the large seating area was empty when we arrived and two other tables were filled when we left) and seated us when we replied that we did. The menu is unusual in that it... More

Four of us enjoyed dinner here on a local's recommendation. Most of the dishes are made completely in house, which is represented by an icon in the menu along each item. There are suggested menus with choices for Entrée, Plat and Dessert, or one can order à la carte. Cuts of duck and goose are regional specialties. One of our... More

Since we arrived in Sarlat, we were encouraged to eat at the Bistrot de l'Octroi. We ate there last night and were very disappointed by the food. The restaurant itself was lovely. I ordered a piece of melon to start the meal and it was not ripe. It did have a very nice liqueur in the middle which would have... More

A cery pleasant restaurant on the edge of Sarlat old town. Good choice of first and second courses with a good wine list. Service is efficient and friendly. This is not your traditional tourist trap, but a real good dining choice in Sarlat.

We thoroughly enjoyed our meal at Le Bistro de l'Octroi on our first evening in Sarlat. The atmosphere was pleasant, we had a delightful waiter with a great sense of humor, and the food was very good. We decided to try the local specialties (all involving goose, duck, or walnuts) so I had a lovely duck foie gras for an... More
