My Wife and myself went for lunch a few days ago. It wasn't busy (approx. 20 people). There were only two people in total working on the bar and the restaurant. I ordered a Southern Fried Chicken (the large portion) on the bone with chips. It took 1 hour to appear and consisted of 5 small goujons (large portion..??) of... More

Just been for a meal with 5 family members after going on a walk. We are giving 5* due to the amazing service given by our waitress Claire (Scottish accent). She was extremely friendly and very attentive. My first time at the pub and we appreciated the large selection of nice food.

Had a lunch here on Christmas Eve. To be honest , the food was nice. We only had a light meal each but it was fine. Ordered a side dish of chips which never arrived and it was a challenge attracting attention. No body did a satisfaction check which should be standard. There seemed to be plenty of staff and... I keep punishing myself by eating at this lovely country pub, cosy logs fires, good ales. Have eaten here many times. Always hoped that the food would be better than the time before! Hey, the chef never disappoints me! Another bad meal today, so disappointed. Bar staff efficient and friendly, no complaints in that department. The main problem with this... More

Took my 87 year old mother-in-law to the Red Lion recently as its one of her favourite pubs and she tells me she's been coming for almost forty years! The service all evening was very good and our starters of mushrooms and duck breast was faultless. I chose the steak and ale pie as a main course while my wife... More

Visited here with friends who recommended this pub for a nice cosy pub dinner. Really super place - great roaring fire which was welcome on a cold night. Extensive menu, we picked mixed grill with triple cooked fries which was superb. Good quality meat, not ridiculous in quantity and very tasty. Puddings were large and yummy, maybe a little too...
