We found it by chance and liked it so much we returned for lunch the next day. As another reviewer said, the bread was incredibly good. We were late so just had omelettes the first day and the goats cheese (with the wonderful bread) the...next, along with some white wine. it’s a very nice, simple, and inexpensive place with a particularly nice lady host.More

My husband, grown daughter and I were driving from the Ostrog Monastery on the new mountain road to Danilovgrad when we saw the sign for the Restoran Konoba Markovi Konaci. There were several other cars parked there and we were hungry, so we decided to...stop for lunch. Little did we know we were about to experience a meal of the a lifetime, one that the late Anthony Bourdain might have described in one of his shows. The woman who served us suggested that we try the "lamb under the bell," and brought my husband over to the grill where the lamb chops and potatoes were being cooked under a dome-like bell. We've learned in our weeks in Montenegro to follow our servers' advice so we ordered the lamb for 3 plus a green salad. While we were waiting, the very kind woman with a little knowledge of English, brought over bread made by her mother-in-law and honestly, from that moment on we knew we had stumbled on something special. The bread was sort of a focaccia, but only sort of. It had a hard, crunchy crust and a thick, moist inside that had the texture of corn bread but tasted like nothing we had ever tried before. She brought the salad and meat and potatoes together. The salad, with cabbage, cucumbers, tomatoes and olives had a unique oil and vinegar dressing. The tomatoes, which were from a neighbor's garden, were tomatoes you'd dream of having in mid-August in the US! But the crown of the meal were the lamb chops and potatoes. They were tender and thick, with a dressing unique to this family who made them. We couldn't stop talking about them both during and after our lunch there! Honestly, this was a dream meal, and anyone has the same chance we did, should stop and enjoy your feast too!More
