Best place where we ate in Abruzzo. Excellent typical products at a very low price. There are grills on which to prepare everything (you have to cook them on the spot). I recommend not to go at predictable times, you risk to find a lot...of people and have to wait to prepare the food. Recommended menu for 2 people: 1. Homemade bread 2. Goat's cheese cream spread, to be eaten with bread, as an appetizer 3. A bottle of Montepulciano , which watering 4. 10 Sheep Roasts (Arrosticini) + 10 Liver Roasts (the latter are very good) For less than 10 euros per person. The meat is very good (I usually publish several photos of the food reviewed, this time we ate everything before I could even pull out the phone).More

There really is something wonderful about being on top of the world in beautiful sunshine with blue skies. You buy your meat inside then come out to the most magical setting, you cook on the barbecues that they have already got going and sit and...enjoy it surrounded by mountains and views to die for. You can't beat this for s day out. The drive there is spectacular with cows, horses and sheep wandering freely. Wild flowers at various times of the year. Just go and have a wonderful time.More

You cook your own food or let them cook it for you. Most people cook their own food over open charcoals they keep hot for the customer's use. The meat was great as was the cheese. I had never had the lamb and cheese like...this -- it was superb. You can then eat what you cooked while looking at the mountains and plains around you - a spectacular setting. I highly recommend the food and the restaurant.More

🇬🇧 Great idea. You can buy meat, cheese, wine and other, prepare it yourself on hot coal and eat in front of the beautiful scenery like this. 🇨🇿 Super nápad, můžete si zde pořídit maso, sýr, víno a další, připravit si to na rozehřátém uhlí...a snít přímo na místě před takovou scenérii.More

This place is really busy on the weekends in the summer. And the people on motorcycles love to make it their destination spot for lunch when taking the bike rides in the mountains. You purchase your meat - lamb pieces on wooden sticks -- and...cook it yourself on the charcoal roasting barbques they have set up. Eat at a picnic table or bring your own table and chairs and set them up on the meadow. A wonderful place to come for lunch in the great outdoors. Tip - make it up here on a weekday and their are many less people. Spring time provides millions of colorful wildflowers. And there are many places to take a hike. Just a really unique experience in a really beautiful place.More

Situated in the mountains near Castel del Monte the only way to fully appreciate this eatery is to is it it. No review will truly do the set up and location justice but here goes. The drive up is via some seriously windy and steep...roads but the rewards are fantastic. Suddenly the mountains fold back to reveal a stunningly beautiful plain, with views for miles. At about 2100m above sea level it can be a lot cooler than by the coast but what a relief on on a hot summers day!! The restaurant is not your typical eatery. Instead it's a small shop selling sausage, cheese, arrosticini and other meats and breads much of which is produced locally. You purchase what takes your fancy then take it outside to cook on one of the many BBQ' s that are lit and ready to go. They also sell wine, soft drinks plus water and ice creams. Despite being miles from civilisation the prices are really reasonable, certainly the food cost no more than we had been paying in our local town. There are lots of tables and chairs outside but also masses of space if you prefer to bring your own rugs and picnic gear. Make a day of it, that's what the Italians seem to do. Highly recommend.More

So fun to bbq our arrosticini (little skewers of meet) and sausages, then eat them with wonderful pecorino cheese, chunks of bread, and the house wine. It was a brisk autumn day with wonderful clouds to add to the truly beautiful scenery. Mostly outdoor seating...you...want to see the views. And the tasty food made you truly happy to be eating here. I don't know that this is "on the way" to anywhere, but certainly worth a detour if you're anywhere in the vicinity. Absolutely wonderful.More

This is such a great idea. They sell meat - really good meat of all description(no chicken I could see but everything else). They have many lit bbqs outside and arosticini bbqs. You buy your meat, they give you plates and kitchen paper and off...you go. Cook, sit at the bbq tables and eat to your heart's content. The setting is gorgeous with 360° views of the Gran Sasso and surrounding area. It is just such a simple idea but fantastic. They also sell drinks, cheese, bread etc but not any green stuff so take that if you want any healthy addition. We are definitely going again and have two further trips planned before the weather changes.More

You use the wood sticks that hold the meat to turn the meat while it is cooking, and to remove when done. You eat the meat right off of the stick. Other food is available and there are forks, plates, glasses. Beer, wine... More
