Very reasonably priced. Multiple courses are served, all are going to be excellent. With wine and 6-7 courses, the cost is less than 35 euros a person.

We happened at this restaurant on a recent Sunday afternoon after failing to secure a table at other better reviewed and more inviting places. The host announced a €25 menu which she described — we said yes. From there things didn’t go very well. The...food we got was okay, nothing exceptional. That wasn’t the main issue though. Some items on the menu (e.g., the prosciutto) never came and the portions were objectively half the size of the other tables. It became so obvious that by dessert time the other patrons were looking at us, embarrassed by this service. We paid and ran away, trying not to spoil an otherwise perfect day ...More

A quit unexpected place with a wonderful ambiance. The host turned out to be a special one. We felt at ease and more then welcome. He didn’t have a fixed menu; only antipasti and a pasta, but they were delicious. And for the price you...cannot refuse this story. You won’t be disappointed.More

Let's eat .... after wining and dining at many interesting restaurants during our few weeks in Italy, this was so enjoyable and memorable. Fillipo entertained us, plied us with carafes of wine and served 14 tasty courses of whatever deliciousness his wife chose to cook...that night! Pinocchio was everywhere...from the ceiling, walls...!More

Where to begin? The eclectic, welcoming and homey vibe set the stage for a memorable evening. Course after delicious course was served as we anticipated the surprises of each plate. We were treated like family and as the owner invited an older man who spent...most of his days on the street to come in and have a hot meal...we knew we were home. After our meal we had a wonderful visit with the couple who owned the restaurant and we realized that kindness was the secret ingredient in a most amazing meal and experience. Highly, highly, highly recommend!!More

Excellent experience and the meal was the best we’ve had after 7 days wandering around starting in Rome then up to Umbria to Assisi and Spoleto. Completely unplanned and just happened to find this amazing place and as we ate we visited with the owner...and his wife (from Thailand) who learned Italian cooking at the elbow of his mother and just had an amazing meal.More

There are not sufficient words to describe this great Osteria. A real family Osteria rarely found, with a cuisine second to none. Go in, relax, on your own or with friends or family, you will never be dissapointed but made to feel at home. A...destination point? Well yes. The whole set-up as a difference which one cannot experience elsewhere. Relax, they will bring food to the table, many dishes as so many different flavours. Remember its an Osteria, therefore, the style of this location delivers exactly that. One can talk with other guests sitting at oter tables. All types of wine but the House Wine is still a brilliant offering this location makes one go for that. its not a place when in a rush unless you tell them. The bill? Don't complain. The price is right and affordable. Many regulars visit which is a good sign for the quality and personal care. Enjoy ...!!! I did many times ... !!!More

Excellent quality food, fun place to eat. You do not order, but have plated brought to you. The house wine is of a good quality. The owner is on site or his sister.

Osteria del Matto came as a recommendation from our tour guide and it did not disappoint. My daughter and I could not stop talking about the food and the experience all around. Not knowing Italian, I was happy to walk in and let them give...me whatever. That way I was much more adventurous in my eating than just ordering whatever I could recognize.More

Our favourite restaurant in Spoleto was closed, so we popped into Osteria del Matto! We were not given a menu, or offered a choice of water, or wine either for that matter. Apparently we were having the fixed menu lunch. (I'm not sure whether there...are other alternatives, haha!). In any case, we decided to go with the flow. A large jug of tap water arrived, a carafe of Montefalco vino Rosso and what seemed like a never ending stream of very tasty antipasto dishes. These dishes all seemed to be 'peasant style' and each one was delicious. Faro and prosciutto risotto, fava beans, asparagus, lamb chops, pomodoro spaghetti, garlicky mushrooms and a couple of others which escape me right now. But all were delicious! A little creamy dolce and cafe to finish! Both my husband and myself enjoyed this authentic experience. We were the only customers, and both the owner and Nonna kept popping out of the kitchen to check that we were happy. All in all, a very nice, relaxing and typical meal...a very pleasant surprise. Sometimes it is lovely to have the decisions taken out of your hands...go with it!!More
