Unfortunately this restaurant was the worst food experience we had in our week in Calabria. We wanted just a simple lunch to take as we stopped to visit this town. The restaurant was empty, there was just another couple in the terrace. We waited mostly...an hour for our food which didn’t make sense as it consisted in just a salad and some pasta with no other costumers. I imagine we didn’t go for expensive plates so why wouldn’t they make an effort? Poor service overall and tasteless food when it finally arrived. Avoid if you can!More

Vularie Siciliane is the perfect blend of comfortable, warm and friendly atmosphere and excellent cuisine. We had three meals there - two dinners and a lunch - and Vularie is already one of our favorite spots in Scalea. The food is a soulful fusion of...the best of Sicilian dishes with a decidedly Calabrese touch. All of our meals were ample, reasonable and accompanied by the warm personalites of Elenia and her chef husband. At the end of our first meal we were served probably - no, absolutely the best canolo we have ever had. Sorry Sicilia, but it's true! That canolo is worth the trip to Calabria all on its own, but you will find many wonderful things to enjoy at Vularie Siciliane.More

We love the variety in the menu that is offered here. There is so much more than the local seafood offerings, although we get seafood here, too. There are many vegetable options. Everything is fresh and tasty. We cannot wait to go back.

We've been coming here for two years and have always had a great experience. It was great for outdoor dining and take away but there wasn't a proper dining room. Well now this have a beautiful dining area. Well Ilenia and her husband have done...an amazing transformation of their space. Now they have a room that's equal to their food. We made a beeline to the restaurant when we arrived from california. What a meal! If anything its better than ever. Nice menu with a nod to their Sicilian roots. The best part is they treat you like family. Check it out!More

We came into town after a tough bike ride, famished! No restaurants were open in late afternoon on Sunday and no stores. Luckily this restaurant was willing to serve us. I was just expecting something to put in my empty stomach. To our surprise everything...was superb!More

We have been to the Vularie Sicilane many times during our visits to Calabria from California, and always have had a great experience here. This time, my wife and I split the "Il Completo", and my son ordered the "Hamburgrasso". The Il Completo was as...we remembered it from last year: a delicious sausage sandwich, with a sweet onion relish to top it off. The Hamburgrasso was a towering sandwich with two meat patties, ham, and smoked mozarrella. This too was in a class of its own, very delicious! The service was very quick and friendly, as always. I'm sure we will return to the Vulariei Siciliane many times during the next few weeks while we are in the area.More

After one excellent lunch we went back every day! Antipasti, pasta, panini, cannoli... Everything is delicious! The host is a warm and friendly woman. Her parents and children are also in the restaurant, which gives you the feeling of dining with family.

We originally were coming here for drinks and appetizers which were always very good. One day we got out of sync with local eating hours, meaning we were hungry while everyone was at siesta, so none of the restaurants usually went to were open. We...stopped by Vularie and asked about food and were informed they served all day. Lucky for us in so many ways. My wife and I had sandwiches, which were very good on really tasty multigrain bread, along with their really good homemade fires. My daughter wanted a real meal and ordered pasta, wow, this was a good or better than a lot of bigger places. Since then when we want a late lunch this is our go to place. We've noticed that lots of other people feel the same. Looks like a simple cafe but this is a full on Trattoria.More

I have been here with my wife and friends a number of times, while on vacation here, and have always had excellent and amazing meals. This last time, I had penne with mushrooms and sausage, and my wife had a swordfish encrusted with almonds and...pistaccios. We sat outside, just in front of the restaurant, and truly enjoyed the entire experience. Highly recommended!More
