Our visit to II Ritrovo will rank in my top ten experiences that I have had in my life! For me a visit to a restaurant is not just about food and good service but its about the passion and character that lays behind the experience. They offer a shuttle service to the restaurant as it is located high up away from the crowds of tourists and overpriced food offerings. Our lovely driver was the the chef/owner's wife Cassia who picked us up and drove us up to the restaurant practising her already good English on us on the way up. We had a lovely table with views of the sea, we started our experience with the best bruschetta compliments of chef Salvatore, then shared a lovely octopus and tomato salad. Seafood pasta and a fritta misto followed, the seafood was incredibly fresh and cooked to perfection. We followed with coffee and homemade small cookies which were delicious. I hope we have another opportunity in the years to come to revisit!

We just came back from dinner at this restaurant. The free shuttle service was 15 minutes late but we had read that in another review, so had our expectations set. You may want to consider asking for an earlier shuttle to potentially walk around the town (we did not take that option and had a late dinner/it was dark so not sure if there is really much of a town to explore). The shuttle experience is a unique experience (hair pin turns and sheer cliffs). They provide you some nice little extras like bruschetta and arancini (rice ball that was amazing!) at the beginning and then a granita and limoncello at the end (both very tasty and appreciated). They even gave me a spice packet to take home with me. We ordered the walnut pasta (it was ok, I would pass on it in the future) and the ravioli with truffle sauce (the raviolis seemed to be homemade and were tasty). We also had the tomahawk steak for 2 (50 euros) which was nicely done and a great deal as it was huge! Prices were very fair. Water was only 3 euros and the cover charge was only 2 euros vs 6 euros for each we have seen at most other restaurants. Overall, food was good but not great (but a good deal for the price, especially in Positano where cocktails are 20 euros). Service was friendly and attentive and the extras they had made it a nice experience.

This restaurant was recommended as a take out option by our hotel but unfortunately were closed due to a family bereavement. On our last night on Ischia we saw that the restaurant had reopened and decided to try it.... and I am so glad we did. We both went for the sliced beef with mushrooms on the recommendation of our server as my husband is unfortunately allergic to both fish and chicken (which is crazy as he is a chef) and there is only so much pizza and pasta you can eat in a 3 week italian holiday. Well it was, in my husbands words "the best holiday meal I have had in 10 years' It was superb with flavours that just danced in your mouth and you could just tell it was cooked with love. Comlimented with great house wines. We will definitely come back to this beautiful island and this will be the first restaurant we head for.

Poor service, have been waited for 40 mins to get at least bread. Shuttle service is a joke, late on 15 mins and after taking you around other hotels to pick up other guests. On the way back waited 40 mins to get back to Positano. Have ordered seafood soup, no flavour, just water, tomatoes and boiled seafood; fish is very overcooked and dry.

The restaurant is impossible to reach by foot from Positano, however, the restaurant runs a complimentary shuttle service from your hotel. I booked our reservation via The Fork and requested the pick up service and though it was clear that the reservation had been booked, it was unclear if the shuttle was picking us up. As such, we made our own way to the restaurant in our rental car whereby we were met by a rather confused manager. The food itself was good. We were served a complimentary appetiser. This consisted of bruschetta and another small plate which was not unlike a miniature potato gratin. For starters I chose the stuffed zucchini blossoms which were good, however, a little bland for my taste. My partner chose the meat platter which has some fantastic meats and cheeses and a delicious peach jam to accompany it. For the main course I chose the pasta special which came with a cheese sauce and walnuts. This was delicious and very filling. My partner choose the lamb chops and though he enjoyed this he felt that the dish was too small and not in line with the price of the meal. After our mains we were given a complimentary lemon sorbet which was a nice touch. We did not have dessert or wine, however, we did try the homemade lemonade which was fantastic! The service was good. The staff were very attentive and made us feel welcomed. The lighting was very dark and though I had no problems with this my partner felt that the dim lighting ruined the mood.

We have ordered 2 starters and 2 mains, both of them didn’t have any taste and were just overcooked seafood. While booking I pointed out we would like to have a table with a view, I have got confirmation and in the end we were sited in the middle of the restaurant. Shuttle service is a joke. Never go for places which works all day, just trap for tourists

Enjoyed an amazing meal in this picture-perfect restaurant overlooking the piazza in Montepertuso, the food was beautifully fresh and tasty, we enjoyed bruschetta, grilled octopus and melanzane parmigiana to start, followed by a wonderful fish stew which was just to die for. All washed donw with a selection of local wine and liqueurs, served beautifully by the attentive and friendly staff, including the free shuttle bus that collected us from Positano and took us home to Nocelle. Can't wait to visit this superb restaurant again one day.

We absolutekly loved our dinner here, hosted by Paolo with an incredible view overlooking the ocean at sunset from high above Positano. His graciousness and friendliness was outstanding, their free shuttle to and from the restaurant made it stress-free and relaxing, and the food - from the cheese and olive oil to their vegetables from the garden to the pasta and the meat - could go on and on. We loved it so much that the bnext night my whole family was excited enough to go right on back and do it again! Very thankful for the great memories!

My fiancé and I were recommended Il Ritrovo on our first night in Positano and the restaurant didn’t disappoint. Great view and exceptional local cuisine. We started the meal with the eggplant parmigiana and the zucchini’s flowers filled with ricotta. Both excellent but the eggplant is a must try as it was the best we’d ever had. For our main entrees we opted for the grilled fish with prawns and the ravioli stuffed with cheese in truffle sauce. Can’t go wrong with either of these, as the pasta dish was delicious and the grilled fish dish was simply prepared to perfection. On our last night in the area our host made us a reservation at La Tagliata just up the road because we had heard great things about the restaurant. The only time we could get was 10:30 so we planned our day accordingly. Around 10 pm that night our host informed us and another couple he booked their as well that they couldn’t honor the reservation and basically we’re sh*t out of luck. Pissed off to say the least we had to make alternate plans and ended up back at Il Ritrovo. Round two they knocked it out of the park. We tried several new dishes on this visit and everything was delicious but the standouts were the linguine with lobster end cherry tomatoes and the grilled tomahawk steak. Two for two Il Ritrovo arrivederci alla prossima!

Heard great things, read great reviews and was really excited to get a reservation on our last night in Positano. It’s a long drive from center of Positano but it’s a nice setting. Unfortunately, one of the worst dining experiences of my life. I never bash places of business because I know the detriments it can have but this one deserves it. The food was mediocre but it’s the service that really made the experience intolerable. At one point, when I asked the waiter why he had brought out some of the pastas along with the last meat course, he started screaming at the top of his lungs. Not talking loudly, actually screaming. I was flabbergasted. I’m asked politely yet somehow he though it was necessary to not only ruin our experience but that if the rest of the diners. There’s so many great restaurants with better food, better service closer to Positano, that I would avoid this at all costs. Even though there are a lot of great reviews, the chance this could happen to you, does not make it worth the risk.

Visiting the area we went here tonight for dinner I will start by saying multiple People in our party have been in the service industry and waited on people before. We understand during these times that places are short staffed overworked and underpaid. However, I have never been treated so rudely by an establishment by multiple employees. Our dinner reservation was at 5:30 PM we did not get our food until 745. There were multiple tables around us that got their food well before us. After the first hour of waiting for our food we began asking the waiter when we could find him how long it would be before we were fat. He tried to be as accommodating and asked us what He could do to make our time better, my father asked for another glass of wine a few times but never received it. One of the oil bottles was accidentally knocked off the table and we asked one of the bus boys if we could get someone to clean it up or at least provide some thing and that was not done there were shards of glass over the floor and oil close to our our children were all sitting. A different server came over at a time asked If we grew up in a barn and that normally customers clean up after themselves. She told us also that we were awful as she walked away from the table. As my husband and I walked out with two of our children she then asked us where are you from then she saw her license plate from Illinois and said oh it explains a lot. If you are visiting the area from Illinois I strongly suggest you stay away from this establishment their staff is arrogant rude and do not know how to Execute customer service especially When issues arise for their customers. There is no reason why pizza and pasta should take two hours to make. Food is mediocre at best their minestrone soup was mushy and we had to ask several times for bread. Stay away!

We had the most amazing dining experience here!! It started with the most personalized shuttle service by the owner’s wife. She was so sweet and told us some fun facts about amalfi as we drove up the mountain to the restaurant. We were greeted by the owner upon arrival and seated at a table with a beautiful view of the water. From the moment we sat down, the service was fantastic. The chef brought us some bruschetta and other local appetizers. We ordered a charcuterie board which came with a generous amount of local cheese and meat. Dinner was then incredible. I had the salmon salad which was perfectly cooked and seasoned. My husband had homemade pasta with meat sauce- the best he’s had since here in Italy! Then came dessert. You have to try the orange tiramisu!! It was not what we expected but so so soooo much better than can be described. So light, fluffy and refreshing! We will definitely be coming again on our next trip to Italy and will recommend to all our friends!

Just go there. Seriously, stop reading reviews. It’s awesome. Our meal was fantastic & it was a great experience. Our first trip to Positano & everything there is beautiful (tho the prices can be eye-watering). Il Ritrovo was a nice break from the crowds & an absolutely lovely restaurant offering great food that’s top quality. It has an upscale, family-run feel. They took great care of us start to finish, from a free shuttle ride up (& up & up & up) the hill to Montepertuso. We were near the bottom of Positano (just above the church). Shuttle van picked us up on time & it’s abt a 10 min ride up to Montepertuso (which I think is like a hamlet within the town of Positano?). Apple Maps said 35 mins drive, restaurant told me 10 & it was 10. The views (before dark) were stunning. The staff brought our family all sorts of little extras (bread, cookies, caprese, limoncello). They really go above & beyond to deliver an amazing experience. The tagliere plate w meats, cheeses & homemade marmalade was phenomenal. Tiramisu, chocolate lava cake & Delizia al limone were all decadent. Everything was awesome. I hate mediocre food but I’m not interested in “innovative”, Michelin spots that attempt performance art (whatever, not my thing) … this place hit that perfect mark of sticking to the basics of fresh food made to the highest standards w a few perfect touches of flair. Our waiter (the owner’s brother) even asked if we needed a return shuttle when we ordered dessert (perfect timing). Il Ritrovo is the sort of place that makes Italy so amazing. When we return, we will spend more time in Positano/Amalfi, less time touring the big cities, & definitely be back to Il Ritrovo! (I’d also recommend Da Vincenzo, more towards the middle of town, for many of same reasons)

I never leave reviews for restaurants, however this place was exceptional! We are staying in an Airbnb in Montepertuso so il Ritrovo was just a few minutes away walking. The service was very attentive and really made our first night in Positano very special. We had seafood linguini and a fish pasta special and they were both delicious, especially the fish pasta. I thoroughly recommend this place!!!

Went to Il Ritrivo based on the recommendation of our bed and breakfast host. Wished we would have gone earlier in our stay so we could go again! Service was exceptional, food was local, fresh, and cooked perfectly! If we had gone for lunch we could have really enjoyed the view as it was even higher up the mountain than Positano, but given the breakfast we enjoyed at our bed and breakfast, we were never hungry for lunch. Dinner was just perfect! They even have a free shuttle to pick you up in Positano and drop you off after eating. After we finished dessert, one of the staff brought over a bag of homemade cookies and a spice seasoning packet for pasta as a small gift for coming. Who does that???? Prices were reasonable given the location too. Wow! Just loved Il Ritrivo.
