We had lunch here with friends. Can only get here by boat. There is a feee taxi boat service if you have lunch. Better make a reservation. Stunning views. Staff is ok. So these were the positives. The food is absolutely average. We had the seafood antipasti which tasted like they were leftovers. The seafood dish Giuseppe was probably cooked in advance and reheated. The pasta was overcooked and the mussels and clams were thawed for sure. It’s ok if you want to spend a day with friends in a nice location but don’t expect to eat particularly well

This is an excellent spot just off Porto Venere, involving a 5 minute ferry ride. The restaurant has outdoor as well as indoor seating. Of course, the main offering here is fresh seafood. Decent service with tasty food, accompanied by an appropriate wine list.

Was not impressed. Sat us next to a broken window with tape on the glass and our bread was stale. Also had a strong sewer smell when you arrive

We went there for lunch and finally got a table with four chairs for five people... it took them 30min to bring another chair. We finally ordered and after waiting for 30 more min, the owner came and told us that we would not get the ordered food because the kitchen is now closed. Then they send us away.

The location is stunning! However, despite seafood was fresh, the pasta was not cooked in line with Italian traditions. There was too much tomato sauce, which covered the taste of the seafood and pasta itself was cooked for too long. In addition, the personnel was unpolite and we asked for a table closer to the sea, which they told us it was already reserved but end up to be empty the whole night. Finally, we waited 40 minutes for the boat to pick us up to the island. There are great rooms for improvements given the beauty of the place.

I am almost a local, my family living not far in the province of La Spezia. I visited Locanda lorena for lunch or dinner in years pre Covid and was always pretty satisfied. Yesterday we went again to celebrate my sister birthday. The place it’s the shadow of its former self. The location is obviously gorgeous, right in front of the beautiful town of Portovenere but the food is simply bad. The antipasti were decent but nothing special. Amongst them the famous stuffed mussels really made is clear how backward the place went from a few years back. We used to go there with friends just for that dish. As mains we had Crab tagliolini, and they were just awful, with a hint of curry that did not make any sense in a dish as delicate as that, over souced as well with too much oil and other condiments. My niece had spaghetti Giuseppe and she just hate a few forks of them before declaring that they were not good. My wife had grilled squid that according to her were mediocre. We skipped seconds and went to dessert. I had lemon sorbet which was ok but my niece had crème caramel and it was not edible. It’s regrettable that such a historied restaurant has let itself down so much As to the price, well, it depends if you are thinking your are paying for the location or the food. For the location it’s worth it, for the food absolutely not.

Although it was a pleasant boat trip across the bay to the restaurant the captain was miserable. On arrival we ordered a red wine, it was brown and murky with an unpleasant smell. We Re-ordered. Restaurant said there was nothing wrong with the first bottle. They then showed us two whole fish and suggested the two at e150 each for our table of 10. Five people ordered grilled fish at e20 each. They delivered the two fish and said they’d only charge for one which was still e50 more than the advertised grilled fish. One was very dry and unpleasant, the second was ok. Nothing was standout, very average and the restaurant refused to alter the bill. Ambiance was pleasant but attitude of staff not. Sadly disappointing.

Beautiful location BUT food in ridiculous portions; mixed grilled fish for two with just few prawns and squid for 50 eur! A bottle of common wine for 25 eur The coffee was a joke, 3 drops! I’m not joking. Only positive thing the nice staff. AVOID

We visited this restaurant by recommendation for lunch. Food was great no words! But the service is simply awful. We've been trying to call the waiter for 30 minutes to order some coffee and we failed. Tables around us were doing the same. But there was only one guy serving one big table where people came from a fancy yacht. He managed to ignore 4 other tables around him trying to call him ang energetically waiving at him. And all other waiter simply dissappeared during busy lunch time for anout an hour. As a result - waisted more then 2 hours for a simple lunch.

We were recommended to go to this place from a restaurant owner near our Airbnb in Portovenere. We were picked up by a boat at our port and brought directly to the restaurant. I requested a table by the sea and we had a beautiful corner table by the water. The service was great and the food was delicious. We had 4 first courses and 3 second courses, mostly fish but also some pasta. Everything was so fresh and delicious, we had such a great night. Also, the wine was amazing and pricing not bad at all. Highly recommend!

There is a certain type of traveler who can appreciate this as one of the many greatest places on earth. Look, it is not the best grilled fish in Liguria. It is not the most elegant of all restaurants in Italy. It is not the best service compared to an Onsen in Japan. But My Goodness is the combination of a free water taxi across Porto Venere, a casual outdoor terrace, infused with the history of Hollywood, Cinecittà and La Dolce Vita, looking out over one of the most beautiful landscapes / building scapes in Italy, and good food at fair prices, come together into one of the most magical moments of a person's life. If you don't feel it, then you must be made of wood, like the fishing boats that dot the sea before you. Whoever complained about a muddy wine is unable to appreciate a Nebbiolo. I regret to share this glowing review because I want to be able to book a table whenever the wish to return overtakes me.

We decided to take the ferry across from Porto Venere and walk around Palmaria Island. We walked clockwise from ferry point and came across Locanda Lorenze near the end of full circle walk. We wanted food and a drink to finish off a great walk and weren't disappointed. On entry, the place was busy. Staff quickly got us seated and looked after us well. The food, drink, ambience, and view were perfect. It was actually one of the best meals and experiences we had during our 6 days in Porte Veneer. Keeping in mind, we turned up with walking gear on and rucksack. It was unpretentious and welcoming. We asked for coffee at the end, but a table of 20 got in before us, so it didn't arrive before we had to leave for ferry. That was no issue, and we didn't have to pay. I'd recommend both the walk and the restaurant, but both combined were sublime.

This place hits the spot right on target. A Venice like water taxi ferries you across the bay. The pesto based starters are a joy as is the Sea Bass served with potato slices. The building is also a colorful adventure in itself.

Great restaurant on the small island close to Portovenere. They will pick you up in Portovenere and take you by boat to the restaurant. Really great service. Views was amazing and the seafood brilliant.

Had a waterfront table with an excellent bottle of Vermentino. Great appetizers for sharing. Tender & light Orata al forno with Palmaria olives, tomatoes & potatoes. Friendly staff. Just a wonderful dinner.
