We visited the old city of Orvieto and after a good explore we walked away from the tourist hordes looking for a quiet local restaurant for lunch. We found Numero Uno and were stunned by the exceptional quality of the food. We shared a local meat platter, I had an excellent baked egg plant filled and overflowing with umbrichelli, basil... I was in this osteria last week. Yes, it was hard to find but you really should go to this place.I travel very often in Italy with my wife so we have experienced many kinds of restaurants. This was our fourth trip to Orvieto region but it was our first visit to this osteria. The interior was not so exceptional... More

We stopped in here one day when our usual dinner spot was closed. When we first walked in it looked as if we were in a children's classroom and there was not a sole around. But, as we wandered further into the restaurant, we found Angelo who greeted us with a big smile and found us a table. There were... More

We had dinner at Numero Uno twice during our recent two weeks in Orvieto. It's on a side street behind the Piazza del Popolo, and a bit hard to find (at least for us). Even on our second visit - and with a map in hand - we had to wander around a bit before stumbling onto it, on a... More

Angelo was great, very attentive and helpful. The food was delicious, we had a variety of pasta dishes and his superb ricotta dessert. I highly recommend.

The food was delicious, fresh, tasty. I had cinghiale all'arancia which was luscious and juicy. My kids and husband enjoyed various pasta dishes. The desserts, tiramisu and a ricotta and almond dish, were SO good. We were all, including two small children, made to feel very very welcome indeed. The wine was really good. We were also given complimentary glasses... More

This is my second visit and I would definitely return. Great appetizers which are creative variations on local favorites. Both the cinghiale stew and ragu were excellent. Wonderful desserts as well.

Very friendly owner and very humble place. Quite nice local dishes and wine list. Chinghiale was great as well as pork fillet. Would recommend it and will be back.
