We sat outside (for dinner) as it was warm and we prefer not to stay inside due to Covid. Family of four. Cosy spot in Orvieto (in a medieval piazza, nice and silent). Nice and friendly staff. Food was excellent but the dessert (a dark...chocolate tart) was on the dry side and the dessert wine they advised was in our opinion not up to the standards of the dinner, however that was the only disappointment on the evening. The wine they advised was quite good. Great experience and the next time in Orvieto we will definitely go there.More

It was uneasy to find an available restaurant on Saturday, so we were happy (indeed this restaurant was not our choice n. 1). We were 6 people and one of 3 years old, which was served as first with some simple pasta, as we asked....We all had meat and one portion of handmade pasta. Averill was satisfying us, probably we were having a high expectation, I will give a score of 3 of 5. Cave was particular, we liked a lot the service, price was fairMore

Have eaten here on a previous trip. Love the cavelike atmosphere and creative food. Highly recommended. Had risotto with zucca gialla, cinnamon, cheese, and rosemary. Remarkable! A side of grilled radicchio with balsamic vinegar.

Very unique restaurant in Orvieto. It used to be an Etruscan cave. Food and service very good. Excellent selection of wines and very fair price. Recommend to book in advance.

Dropped in for lunch on a weekend trip to Orvieto from Rome. Lovely setting in the "grotto" and friendly staff. The wood-oven pizza is good, but the pasta is truly phenomenal. It melts in the mouth. Good selection of wines. Lunch for two, with wine...and dessert, was about 50 Euro. We will be back!More

Recommended by our B&B host, we reserved a table for dinner and thoroughly enjoyed the ambience, the food and the service. The pictures tell the story regarding the interior. We started with a variety of bruschette which were very good. My wife has the steak...and potatoes, and I had the meat dish which included sausages, lamb chops and wild boar (if I remember correctly). I also enjoyed my dessert; however, my wife advised that the apple crumble with ice cream was unexceptional. We would definitely return.More

Really enjoyable lunch, great staff , good prices. Bit off the main thoroughfare but we were glad we persevered as it was a highlight of our trip. We learned that the restaurant was built into a cave excavated from the lava orvieto is perched on,...and that was the reason for our visit.More

Wonderful first night in Orvieto. Walked to this neighborhood restaurant by ou apartment. Pasta with zucchini and bacon for myself and pasta with salmon for my friend. Grilled vegetables were also delicious. Great atmosphere.

This is a favorite dinner spot in Orvieto. These old caves were converted into this restaurant where you can have wood-fired pizza and bread, fabulous pastas (we had tagliatelle with wild boar and beef ravioli) and endless appetizers. I worked with Fabrizio, who is always...so helpful and kind, to create a nice tasting menu for my group. And he and his team were very attentive throughout dinner. I love this place! It’s also next to a beautiful viewpoint where you can see the Umbrian countryside – make a quick visit there first for some fantastic photos.More

Did not have a positive feeling about this restaurant as soon as we entered. There were 3 waiters watching us enter and not one of them greeted us. I had to say "buonasera". As much as I wanted to go elsewhere, the wife insisted otherwise....The food is just average. My wife had the risotto which was rather bland. The service was pretty pathetic. The waiters gave every indication that they would rather be somewhere else. We had dinner the following night at L"osteria dell"Orso....wonderful experience and food to match.More
