great pizza & pasta, lovely ambiance

If you're hungry after hiking in the mountains just make sure you booked your table at Mauritz Keller. Don't forget: it's such a great place, you won't be the only guest. Enjoy great pizza & pasta, lovely Limoncello and a relaxed ambiance.

Busy place with good service and tasty food

We went 3 times during our stay in Ortisei. Every time we were very lucky to get a seat quickly. Teenagers enjoyed the pizza and we had varied meals of pasta, oysters, goulash soup, all the standard things. Its at the upper end of the price scale but well worth a visit.

Dinner in Ortisei

During our week in Ortisei, enjoying the snow and being outside the whole day, we were advised to have dinner at the Mauritz Keller. And as it turned out, it was the best in town. We ate there multiple times, tried another one once, but returned again to Mauritz. The rich choices of local wines in combination with fresh food and pleasant staff, made our week.

So Good We Ate Here Two Nights in a Row

It’s not easy for our family to find a restaurant that satisfies the vegetarian, gluten-free and omnivore palates of the four of us, but Mauritz Keller did just that. The food is excellent and beautifully presented in a warm, casual, mountain-like atmosphere. In fact, we liked it so much and there were multiple things that each of us wanted to try, that we ate there two nights in a row! The mushroom risotto was a standout. And you can’t beat the complimentary glass of ice-cold homemade limoncello at the end of the meal. Delicious! I highly recommend the restaurant.

A must! If you find your self in Ortisei you must stop by!

I'm American.. so to say that we are spoil by our food back home, well to be specific I'm from Miami FL, one of the places in America where we have an abundance of good local, ethnic and fusion food and so every time we travel I find food to be acceptable but yet still less than the over popping of flavors that I'm used to. My wife and I travel a lot and I tend to look for that one place on every trip which stood out culinarily. Mauritz Keller was the pace for me on my most recent trip to Italy. Okay, so now for the review. The restaurant is easy to miss as it's a downwards entrance into a lower level. I happen to have seen it only because the wind shared a gust of the pizza smell coming from it. That's all it took for me to know this place was going to be good. We ordered several dishes and of course had to try the pizza as well and everything was perfect! very flavorful and with excellent presentation. The restaurant it self is very will and appropriately lit, clean and the vibe is layback (comfortable) the folks seem to have a natural inclination toward wanting to attend to you. I especially enjoyed the service by our waiter who was a bit too eager to take care of everyone.. We found him funny and very pleasing. Over all, the food is served rather quickly, hot and just out of the pan/oven which for us was perfect. As a Traveler I don't appreciate being indoors in restaurants or bars for long periods of time while the day passes by missing out on everything there is to explorer. Mauritz had the perfect serving speed and at no time did we feel rushed. And as for the cost of dining? If you're in Ortisei you must stop by for a great dining experience.

Finally vegan options!!!

The food was very tasty, the staff was super nice and they had to vegan options to choose from as a vegan. The restaurant has a very local style and its very comfortable. would recommend :) also the only restaurant we visited within this week which had vegan options (i had the spinach burger it was delicious)

Good earthy food

If you stay in Ortisei, the location could not be better, just in the centre of the village. Given the relative lack of natural light, I prefer it as a dinner destination. Very busy during high season so make sure you book a table. The menu is extensive. Whilst the meat our neighbours had looked delicious, we opted for the pizza which was very good too. For me the only negative was that it is a very busy place

So fast and great value

We struggled to get a booking for our group of 10, as they are so busy, but managed on our third night in Ortisei! What a pleasure it was, with superb service, a good menu selection and incredibly fast service. We especially appreciated the fact that they did not have a 'cover charge', did not charge us for tap water, and even gave us two rounds of 'orangecello' as a goodwill gesture. Very different from some of the other tourist-oriented restaurants in the centre of Ortisei. We had a various starters, drinks and deserts, and it still came in below EUR 25 per head.

bit overpriced tourist spot - though nice wide food selection

We were there with my family on a Saturday evening in March 2024. Service is attentive, food is the average Südtirol and Pizza (+burgers) stuff for the tourist crowd around the world. I see low value here though food is nice. a pot of 1 Liter (very thin) local wine was 24€ (this is a wine region, usually liter is 10-12€ in Italy) and they add 3€/Person coperto. Tip can be skipped (as usual in Italy!)

Nice environment, but the price does not fit the service and quality of the food.

At first the environment seemed nice. Unfortunately, the waiters were more interested in the local guests rather than tourists like us. Furthermore , we ordered a meat plate, and to our disappointment, we were not asked, how we wanted the meat cooked. When the meat plate was served, the meat was well done, which did not please our taste. Unfortunately, we left with an empty feeling, that the price did not fit the service and quality of the food.

Great menu, food, and fast service!

The restaurant was packed but they found a table for me pretty quickly even though I hadn't reserved. The menu is vast, they had a lot of great choices. My venison chop cooked in wine with cornmeal polenta and veggies was very tender and delicious. Very quick and friendly service, the staff is great. I'd definitely recommend it!

Worst Pizza Ever

The worst pizza I have ever had and it’s in Italy of all places very soggy and not very nice. As with everything in Oritsei it was expensive and not at all good value for money. My friends meal of traditional pork was pretty underwhelming, school dinners at best, sorry but a poor, and expensive experience.

Excellent food of all kinds!

This restaurant has it all. A varied, creative menu of both Tyrol and Italian dishes in a cozy atmosphere. My husband’s venison chops had a delicious fruity sauce and were cooked to pink perfection. (We appreciated the selections of different meats on the menu that weren’t breaded. ) The server readily agreed to substitute roasted potatoes for polenta. I had grilled vegetables that were quite varied and even included fennel. I would have liked the fried cabernet to have been more flavorful but I enjoyed it anyway. A delightful spot!

Great find!

We saw the entrance the restaurant. And is just a doorway heading downstairs, so didn’t look like much. However the area is very spacious. Plenty of seating. Cannot say enough of how amazing the food was. The filled pasta was an extremely light ravioli and very flavorful. The camicie was a light and crisp pizza sandwich. I thought better than any pizza we have had.

Extensive menu and delicious food

Ate here a number of times during our stay in Ortisei after reading about Mauritz Keller on this website before we begun our trip. The good reviews are well deserved. The food was great as was the house wine. We tried a number of different dishes including the mixed grill, which was amazing, to pizzas and pastas that were all lovely. Complimentary shot of limonello was a nice finish to each meal. Looks like they host a disco on a Friday night but we had plans in Venice so will have to return for this one!
