Great restaurant

We came here on out last day in Montepulciano during lunch and as soon as we walked in the service was great. With it being a fancy restaurant than most Italian places, they were very accommodating with our 2 year old baby. He even fell asleep during lunch and was able to sleep. The setting, down a viale of cypress trees and across from the stunning church of San Biagio below Montepulciano, is magical. There are three dining areas, a large and a small room indoors and the garden. The food is the best iteration of Tuscan cuisine because it's reworked by a great chef, Cristina. Many choices, hand made pastas, beautifully prepared... More

The restaurant is situated by itself on the outer ring of the old world charming town of montepulciano. The warmth and welcoming atmosphere is apparent from the moment we walked through the door. The open yet intimate space with its understated decor is one that readies you for an evening of truly outstanding tuscan dining. The waitstaff is both attentive... More

My family and I were very fortunate that, almost two decades ago now, our first trip to Italy had us staying in the town of Montepulciano, a holiday that included checking out the wonderful restaurant of La Grotta. From that first visit we were blown away by the warmth and friendliness of the service, and the incredible food. I know... More

We have been coming to La Grotta for 15 or more years. It has never failed to impress with the quality of the food and the service. We usually come in the summer and dine outside in the garden, but have also eaten indoors. The food is alway beautifully presented and it is obvious that the chef has added to... More

We live all year round in Umbria and returned to La Grotta at the specific request of visiting friends on 27 November '15 and experienced a real Winter Warmer. From the warm but professional welcome at the front door to the blazing open log fire followed by a complimentary glass of Avigionesi White Wine we could not have been made... More

If there's one place we always long to return to when we leave Italy, it's La Grotta. Quite simply, the experience is everything you could ever wish for, The food is wonderful - whether it's the pasta or the fiorentina; the delicious cheeses or the delicate deserts, the food sums up everything that's good about Italy in general and Tuscany... The hotel recommend the La Grotta and my friends and I are glad we took their recommendation. Both the service and food was wonderful and we would happily return. We allexperienced different but delightful pasta dishes, but we saw others enjoyinging Florentine steak.

Very good atmosphere, nice staff and great food experience. We ate outside in the garden, very quiet and pleasant. Truffle was very good. Good food choices also for vegetarians.
