I really tried to like this place and to concur with the vast majority of reviewers, but in the end I could not... For me already the food was quite a mixed-bag: - Teriffic pici all'aglione -> excellent start - horrible filled veal, which - though heated up in the microwave (the acoustic signal of the microwave could clearly be... This place was recommended by my airbnb host who was clear that this place was local, not fancy, but homemade with love. This place is indeed very local with virtually no tourists. It was run by an adorable older woman and a younger lady - watching the younger lady care for the elderly locals whom seemed to be patrons of... More

This place is awesome. We were renting an apartment in Montepulciano for the week, and our hostess recommended that we go here for the handmade pasta. It is owned by the most wonderful woman who has various people who stop by to help her bus plates and set tables. She doesn't speak any English and we spoke really minimal Italian,... More

This little unassuming restaurant is not fancy. It might need some updating for its worn decor, however, we had a wonderful dinner here. We were the only ones in the upstairs restaurant on a Wednesday evening. The owner was nice and the food was like have home cooking in Tuscany. The pasta was tasty and the serving size very generous.... More

A lucky lunch-time find; delicious, freshly-cooked pasta. Friendly, genuine, unpretentious. Simple surroundings, very basic decor, limited choices, just mother-and-daughter (it appeared) doing everything from cooking and serving to washing up by hand. A most enjoyable little meal at a very modest price.

This place may have a bad first sight impact because vintage and noto renewed but is autenthic, traditional, homemade and one of the best. It is not chic, neither very welcoming but a typical old restaurant were there is not place for decoration and beautiful words...everything goes directly at the core: great food, big portion and cheap price.

Just off the main street, this simple restaurant serves home cooked food in plentiful portions that is very reasonably priced. If you want the house wine an unlabeled bottle will be placed on the table and you will pay only for what you drink. The only other diners when we were there were locals, even though the restaurant is literally... More

The reviews are right: the dining room reminded me of my Italian-American grandmother's kitchen, which is not a place those dreaming of a vacation in Tuscany would want to end up. There were only a couple local old men eating when we showed up. The menu is limited, without many of the dishes tourists might know. What IS there is... More

This is a genuine, authentic place with incredible food and wine at very low prices. It isn't touristy, there isn't a long menu and the decor is simple. But you're much better off here than at a tourist trap. Try the pici (big thick chewy spaghetti, a local speciality) all'aglione (garlic tomato sauce).

The food might be lovely at this place – there appears to be a kind old grandmother cooking it – but the dining room was so depressing (empty, harsh lighting and furnished like the 1940s) that – despite making reservations, we walked out before sitting down. Please update the décor/ambience at least a little!
