This review is for the Caffe Vergnano 1882 which is located in the heart of the historic centre of Mestre, just next to Torre dell'Orologio. It's a nicely decorated cosy cafe where I shipped a very tasty espresso. After some time in the morning, it also offers lunch menus. You can also have a table outside since it is situated... More

Went here for an evening meal along the Grand Canal. There are a few restaurants alongside so make sure you sit in the correct area. Quite dark and not much lighting but enough to see what we were eating and drinking. Service was excellent as was the food.

We shared a pizza for lunch with drinks and it was delicious. Pizza was perfect and the view is stunning. Perfect for a rest and relaxation spot.

Loved this place. We spent 2-3 hours here relaxing and taking pictures. The cafe is next to the grand canal and has many vegan options available. If you don't want Italian this place has lot of healthy options like quinoa, cous cous, omelette and scrambled tofu with veggies. We accidentally stumbled upon this area while getting lost on the streets... More

Dropped into this restaurant on a very hot day in Aug we were on a day trip to Venice and this looked a nice location right beside the Grand Canal and near the Rialto bridge. The food was ok but the service was very very slow and we had a tight time schedule and a long wait was not what... More

The food was okay, considered the price, but the staff was incredibly rude! We had 5 different waiters and only one of them was nice, he was a young new waiter. We tried to smile at them several times, but they never even bothered to look at us. Every time we ordered something, it felt like we were in their... More

We were ok on our lunch on 1882, but polenta was normal, pasta also and waiters attention poor. Wouldn't die if I eat there again but wouldn't repeat

The restaurant is in perfect location, overlooking the Grand Canal. Perfect for a break and refreshments during sightseeing of magical Venice. The service is excellent. Cakes are perfect. I wish I was there now...

Staying in San Polo

Neighborhood Profile
San Polo
The Rialto Bridge is the most famous sight along the Grand Canal in San Polo, smallest of Venice's six sestieri (districts) and by far the busiest neighborhood. Morning Venetians arrive to peruse the markets for fish, fruit and vegetables, while shops display goods from cheese to wine to desserts. San Silvestro and Rialto Market vaporetto (water taxi) stops add to the steady stream of foot traffic. San Polo is defined by churches including Basilica dei Frari, one of the most important churches sought by art lovers.
