Large portions and friendly service but food seemed a better quality in other places in malcesine. Ordered a carpaccio to start followed by pasta then steaks. The carpaccio and pasta was very helpfully served as two smaller portions to make sharing easier. The carpaccio was very very cold which detracted from the taste. The penne arrabiati was very fresh and tasty. The main steaks were a fillet and a steak with Parmesan and rocket. The one with Parmesan and rocket was the nicest. Good food but the very cold carpaccio detracted from the overall experience.

Wedding reception - fantastic

We held our wedding reception at La Pace at the end of August and the food was delicious, the food was complimented by every guest. The table layout was beautiful, with a good view of the lake and there was so much atmosphere. The service was impeccable. Valentina who helped to organise the day made it perfect. The ape truck that drove us to/from the castle was fantastic. The wedding cake was beautiful as well as so tasty. We loved the variety of food at the reception and the limoncello went down a bit too well with our guests!! We always dine at La Pace when in Malcesine as it is hands down the best food and service. Thank you, La Pace!

Great place to eat - by the lake, very friendly staff, it was my son's birthday and they gave both children free Tiramisu for dessert, at the end of the meal with the sweets they bring a whole bottle of Limoncello for you to serve yourself, free of charge. The food was very, very tasty. I highly recommend. The first time we went there we had to wait for a table for at least 30 minutes, but they gave us free drinks, prosecco for the adults and orange juice for the kids, to drink as we were waiting.

Booked a table for 8pm, on arrival, all tables taken and three other couples were also waiting unceremoniously on the path in front of the restaurant for a table. In the end we only waited for 5-10 minutes, but still a bit annoying - they didn’t ask those who were waiting who had booked and who hadn’t, so not much point on booking really. Food fine, nothing special but certainly not bad. Once we were seated, service was fine. Reasonably priced.

We cannot understand the many 5-star reviews. The food was okay, but we had much better at other places in Malcesine. The "grilled fish" was not grilled, but simply pan-fried. The lasagna was very plain. They don't seem to make the extra effort to make their dishes exceptional. The lake view is very limited (we could barely see it from our table), our plastic table was small and wobbly, a bit too close to other tables and despite a reservation we had to wait to get seated. It wasn't bad, but still the worst food we had during our stay at Garda lake. I choose good food over a good location any day!

A good evening, almost spoilt

Staying in Malcesine for a week and thoroughly enjoying our stay. Every day/ night has been fantastic. Tonight, however we had a meal here and it was probably one of the worst restaurant experiences ever. The food was tasteful enough, the location superb, but it was completely spoilt by the manic activity around us, lack of service and rush, rush, rush! No sooner had we been ushered in, seated and offered complimentary breads and oils etc, then it was whipped away to be replaced with main courses. The staff were shouting all around us, rushing us with our courses and the whole service was extremely impersonal. There was a shouting from the kitchens, waiting customers hovering around our table whilst we ate and all the time the staff were trying to hurry us along. Maybe this was a bad night, but judging by some earlier comments, I’m guessing not. Completely the opposite of everywhere else we have eaten in Malcesine. Such a shame. Better luck, if you give it a go (hopefully the service/atmosphere will be better).

the score is average based on all aspects of the restaurant. The food was very good but the service let it down. 22 people ordering some having starters others not, but the food was brought out at the same time. So some people eating mains and others on starters. We had 3 tables and it was difficult to keep up with the price ....we paid the bill but not sure who paid for what. They provide garlic bread as an apetizer - it was smothered in oil and the waitress picked up the plate spilling the grease all over me - she didnt bat an eyelid, and luckily it was on hands and napkins so didn't cause any problem, though it was bad service. yes it has a great view, and the food was lovely but overall the service let it down

Excellent location with ok service. We especially appreciated the limitless limoncello at the end of the meal. But oh dear… the food itself… Delivering up bland pasta dishes in an Italian restaurant, in Italy, is inexcusable. And tasteless meat and fish main dishes too. As for the complimentary garlic bread… it didn’t taste of garlic. and we didn’t recognise it as bread. It was so hard, if we’d dropped it it would have shattered. Epic fail. It feels like a restaurant that, because of the location, has to do very little to keep the customers rolling in but offers pretty bland tasteless dishes. It was by far the worst place we ate all holiday. I’d look elsewhere.

Location was good, after choosing the dishes, we were told that there was no pizza today, they could have told us this beforehand and not wait until the customer had entered the restaurant, overpriced for what was offered, the starter was served split even though my wife didn't want one. Wine was average, dishes were nicely presented but could be spicier, you have to beg for payment. There are better options in Malcesine.

Have eaten here several times during our stay in Malcesine. The food (appetizer, pasta & salads) is very tasty. Here you really can not complain. There was always a sparkling wine as a welcome and a limoncello to finish. The waiters were also all very nice. Sometimes you just "got lost" in the crowd and had to wait a bit until you caught a waitress. Otherwise everything was top.

Visited in a large group. Food was nice. They try to rip you off with excess amounts of bottle water / bread on table / extras. Check your bill as it was totally wrong and we got almost €50 took off bill as it was incorrect and noticed after we had still been €40 over charged. Wouldn’t return.

We visited after a long walk into town was seated fairly quickly which was great looked through the menu picked what we were going to order. We had 3 young children complaining they were thirsty after 15 minutes we decided to go. I then seen the waiter rushing over to which he replied you have been waiting 2 minutes which was a complete lie ,I said I haven’t he then said we’ll go find a Mac Donald’s then !!!! I was taken aback I couldn’t believe someone could be so rude especially after we used the owner for our wedding transport what was supposed to be a nostalgic trip back was just spoiled by him !!! He maybe needs to go work in Mac Donald’s he might then learn some common decency!!!!! we could have waited if it was just me and my husband but we wasn’t ! and also the fact that if I choose to leave I can without being spoken to like that ! I also know 15 minutes isn’t that long to wait for a drink order but it is when you have 3 young children .

We have known and appreciated La Pace for over 30 years. It has always been very tourist-oriented, but the food and service have always been very good. But now it has passed its peak. Its business acumen has gone too far. In short: the food is now loveless, tastes of nothing and is sometimes of poor quality. The service is not interested in this, they don't understand or don't want to understand. The boss is too busy attracting and seating more tourists. It's a shame, it was always a safe bet... today it's a "continuous water heater" of mediocre quality.

This was the best restaurant we visited on our holiday. It’s is located on the beautiful old port square with views of the lake. When we arrived, the restaurant was very busy and we had to wait 10 minutes for a table . We were given a complementary glass of wine each while we waited, and then we were given a complementary garlic pizza bread when we were seated. The menu is fantastic with a lot of choice. We both chose pasta dishes, which were great quality and large in portion size. At the end of our meal, we were given complementary limoncello or grappa. Service was excellent and prices were very reasonable. We sat on the beautiful terrace for our meal, taking in the fabulous atmosphere and views of the square. This restaurant is well worth a visit.

Good hearty food

Arrived here after some unbelievable weather which was vey heavy rain. Sat down very quickly ordered our food which we shared the bruschetta which could be shared as get 4 slices with toppings. Mains we had the pizza (4 stagioni) and the Spaghetti with garlic oil and chilli pepper which we’re both very good portions. Staff were great and had a good conversation with them as it wasn’t as busy as expected im assuming due to the rain. Location is right on the front of the lake.
