The recommendation came from a local, and it was spot on: tasty genuine disches, fresh ingredients and an ample selection of especially Tuscan wines - what does one want more? It's trattoria-style so don't expect a fancy setting, but what counts is what comes in your plate! You'll need a car to get there though, because this place is way... More

Giovanna, the mater familias still makes fresh pasta every morning while her daughter Giuliana runs the kitchen and son-in-law Paolo is in charge of the grill.Granddaughter Giulia serves and oversees the two dining rooms. Everything is delicious, and the prices moderate. Good local wines are reasonably priced. There is a warmth and homey feeling to the place, a reflection of... More

What can I say about this place..... Go. Enjoy. Be amazed. It's literally a house on the side of the road, understated, hardly a sign to say there is an osteria here. Mum and dad run the place, mum and grandma cook, dad does the wine and the meat and the daughter does most of the service and all of... More

We mistakenly booked a B&B that was not in Arezzo centre but this restaurant was recommended and did not disappoint. Full of local diners and serving typical Tuscan fare. The owners daughter had worked in London so spoke fluent English but tolerated my attempts at speaking Italian with good grace. Great value and good food that just missed out on... More

We arrived in Arezzo after an overnight flight to Florence from the USA. We really were not looking for a meal out but our B & B host highly recommended this restaurant and called in a reservation. We arrived, non Italian speaking, first time out of the USA, weary travelers and were made to feel like family. The waitstaff was... More

One of my favorite, family run, restaurants in the outskirts of Arezzo. The food is authentic, wonderful and always a joy. I love the family and they are as much part of my reason to keep coming back. Amazing selection of wines (and for those who prefer: a nice selection of specialty beers). In my opinion: for those who do... More

Lived in Arezzo for 4 years and the food was excellent no matter what you ordered it was excellent. Wine list is exceptional one of the few places in Tuscany where you will find New Zealand wines on the list! The family are extremely friendly and the service is exceptional if you are near Arezzo or are visiting a must... More

Osteria da Giovanna was recommende to us by our very able guide, Sara, of Very Tuscany Tours. We ate there on a Tuesday evening and the restaurant was bustling with happy locals. The food was delicious and the service very good. Definitely worth checking out. Very authentic and non-touristy.

Had a couple of evenings at Giovanna. Food was good and there was an extensive wine list. Local speciality dishes worth investigating. Sorry to say my Italian is non existent but waitress was very helpful in translating. Not an imposing restaurant but definitely worth a visit if in the area. We were lucky to get in on Friday night as... More

Had a business lunch there with a colleague who is from Arezzo. Beautiful Tuscan dishes with the perfect glass of wine. Osteria da Giovanna is definitely my 'goto' restaurant in Arezzo. Say hello to Luca the sommelier there when you go. In 2009 he was selected as the top sommelier in all of Italy.
