Family run restaurant. You need to book at least a day in advance as they cook everything in the traditional method which takes 4 hours but it is well worth it. The family is very friendly and welcoming we felt right at home and the food is amazing. Make sure you are absolutely starving when you go as there is an unbelievable amount served and it is all delicious. You start with homemade liquors and grappa, dried figs, orange peel and quince jelly all grown and produced on the farm. All top notch then the freshly baked bread with home grown olive oil is outstanding. Then there is either a fish selection or meat selection we tried both and they were both fantastic. I have never had a fish pate that was as good as the one they make. Desserts equally impressive. A must go to if you are anywhere near Dubrovnik.

We loved our experience so much, the food was delicious and the portion size was so generous. We have 4 children (I am Australian and my husband is German) ages 16,14,13 and 2 years old and we were all so satisfied with everything. Seeing the original kitchen and how they cook the food was so interesting. Not only did we have the please to dine at this fabulously traditional family run restaurant, we also stayed in their Villa! Villa Kate is simply stunning, we had the most unforgettable time with the kids. The house is very, very clean and the pool just topped it all off. The entire family was so helpful, when ever we had questions they were there with amazing answers. They bought us fresh vegetables from the garden sometimes and made us delicious pancakes just because.
They also arranged a meeting with Michael (responsible for boat tours) at the villa - he showed us pictures of the tours and we couldn’t say no. Our captain for the day was a navy seal for 22 years and knew the ocean like the back of his hand. He didn’t sit on his boat and just watch us in the water - he was the first one in the water guiding us through caves, cliff jumping and he even caught an octopus for us to hold! He was so calm and relaxed which made me feel so safe with 4 kids in the water. I could write a book on our adventures in Croatia and we really owe all our thanks to the owners of Villa Kate (who also run the restaurant). We are definitely going back one day soon!

An experience that truly deserves a 5 star rating. We booked and confirmed the food we wanted . It’s a traditional Croatian peca which is cooked for 3 to 4 hours so you have to pre order. The arrival welcome and taken to a beautiful terrace with views over the surrounding village and hills to taste the homemade Brandy’s and Grappas with sugared Orange Peel was sublime ( my favourite was the Walnut Brandy) we watched our food being cooked and had an explanation of how it’s all done and then we’re shown the cellar with all the fresh produce and wine and liquor making equipment. Through to the beautiful dining room where we enjoyed our platter of cold meats and cheeses with salads and then also anchovies for my fish choice. Fresh, tasty with homemade bread and Olive Oil. Onto the most incredible peca of lamb with potatoes and carrots. Mouth watering , tasty all three portions devoured and our teenage boys enjoyed and devoured as we all did. My Dorada served with fresh vegetables and potatoes was also perfectly cooked and truly devine. Desert was also homemade and delicious . With wine and drinks additional . We enjoyed the red which again was superb. A grappa to finish and then we purchased some wine, orange peel and a nice handmade egg decoration and headed off, after hugs with the owners Zeljka and Zeljko. It’s was a truly localised and local experience which I can highly recommend and prices at 300.00kn per person also great value. We also met some lovely other families who were eating at a similar time to us. Thank you for a great memory and experience.

My family ate at Laptalo whilst on holiday in Croatia. In short, not only was the food delicious it was a great Croatian experience too! On arrival we were warmly greeted and made very welcome. We were given a tour of their traditional kitchen and got to see our food cooking ‘under the bell’ we were then led outside for homemade liqueurs and candied fruits - all delicious! It was also a good opportunity for photos. The restaurant itself is traditionally styled with a lovely atmosphere. There is no a la carte menu, you choose meat (lamb and veal) or fish. The first course was a sharing platter of continental cold meats and cheeses plus olives and salad. Plus a basket of beautiful home baked bread. The main course was lamb and veal with potatoes and carrots also served on a sharing platter. This was great for our family as we could decide how much we wanted on our plates. Finally we had desert of carob cake which, you guessed it, was also yummy.
The service was above and beyond any we have experienced before and we’ve visited some too notch places. The whole family (it’s a family business) were friendly, welcoming and couldn’t do enough to make you happy. We had trouble getting a taxi back to our hotel as everywhere was fully booked but they kindly offered to drive us back to our hotel (at no charge) which we gratefully accepted.
Honestly, if you’re staying in or near Dubrovnik book a table here. It’s certainly been a highlight of our trip and we would go back.
Thank you family Laptalo we had a great time!

I had a chance to go to this restaurant as a guest at a party that was organized there and had a great time.
We spent the whole afternoon at the location. We were greeted with welcome drinks (local liquor) and then throughout the afternoon experienced multiple dishes of local, traditional food.
Would visit again without hesitation.

A truly rustic Croatian dining experience. Unfortunately I was dining alone and as a result was at a table in a room on my own which didn’t add to the ambiance of the evening. The food was absolutely delicious. You could tell even from the tomatoes in the salad that everything was fresh and home grown. The dorada fish was so so tasty and perfectly cooked. So without doubt this was five star food let down by poor service. It took 2.5 hours for a three course meal and before the dessert arrived I was close to leaving. I would definitely recommend Agroturizam but go as a small group. There was a group of 19 in the other room which clearly affected the service I received.

What a wonderful experience for my husbands 60th birthday last night with our son- personal attention from aperitif to local cuisine- we will not need to eat for days. This was finished off with a spectacular cake to celebrate the occasion. Thank you so much for hosting us so wonderfully.

We went there for a treat yesterday, we got welcomed with home made liquor to taste, a tour around the traditional kitchen and explanation how they make the food we’re about to eat.
The meat takes around 4h to cook and has a special process to make it, I can just say the meat melts in your mouth.
Anyway they show you around talk about their family, super simple people that clearly are happy when they see you enjoy their food.
I can advise you don’t eat the whole day or you’ll have trouble finishing everything they bring you. The starters is a plate that could easily be our dinner (portion wise) and when the main dish comes it’s a delight!
I was so full that I couldn’t eat dessert! Had to bring it home 😅.
The wine is light and for someone who doesn’t like like I drank my 1/4 of a litter with no problem. Did I say that the wine is also home made?
Costs 300kn a person. Welcome drink taster included. Extra drinks are extra.
My wife she had a dourada, simply fantastic, and myself being Portuguese and used to grilled fish I just felt home when I tasted it.
To finish I have to say the 5 star rating is nothing but a frilly deserved rating! Well done guys! Keep what you’re doing because you do it well and people clearly love it.

This’s not just a restaurant/place to eat. This an entire experience of the local traditions, culture, and hospitality. Run by a very welcoming family, this place exudes warmth and affection. The daughter greets you, shows you around while telling the details about food production and sharing some delicious appetizers and aperitifs.
The room you eat in is full of both family and county traditions. It’s cute, cozy and heartwarming.
The food is delicious and plentiful - we had to take leftovers with us as there was enough left for another night’s meal.
One of the best places we got to dine in Croatia.

A very lovely and genuine welcome into a family small holding and business. We had a wonderful evening with the most delicious, simple, honest, fresh traditional food served after what seemed a endless selection of homemade Grappa, Sherry and Lemon cello. Argotourism at it’s finest. Teenagers approved of the feast of meats and cheeses followed by lamb, veal, veg and potatoes ( there is a fish selection on offer too) followed by dessert of traditional cakes and more Grappa! We stayed in the local village so a short walk back but maybe tricky for others to get to unless driving or hire a taxi about 20 minutes from Dubrovnik centre but certainly worth the effort. You won’t be disappointed. Approx £50 per person. You should email with at least couple of days notice to reserve your table.

From the welcoming on arrival, the tour of the kitchen and the small distillery through to the evening dinning - it was a wonderful experience. The food was amazing, we had the meat peka - veal, lamb cooked with carrots and potatoes. Superb. A truly wonderful venue to sample local cuisine - a must for all visitors

I was here few days ago with my family.
The hosts were quite hospitable and nice.
We had a chance to try their homemade liquors ( rose liquor was definitely my favourite) and homemade fruit sweets as well.
Food that was served was really good as well.
I would definitely recommend this place, it's worth visiting.

What a way to experience local Croatian food and hospitality. To see how they grow, prepare and cook the amazing ingredients, then to taste the liquors followed by the tastiest tomatoes, sweetest carrots and tender slow cooked veal and lamb. The families passion, pride and love for what they do shines through. A wonderful meal and great way to end our trip in Dubrovnik. Ps. Watch out for the wild boars on the journey home.

Honestly a must visit restaurant to experience the joy of this family showcasing authentic homegrown dining.
A wonderfully Croatian night, eating in their family home. Start with aperitif in the wine store, selection of home made and home picked things. Walnuts, almonds, Candied peel while sampling their homemade limoncello, cherry brandy, pomegranate, rose liquor etc. no end to the hospitality.
Tour the baking house, overlooking their rocky garden where vegetables flourish due to their care and hard work.
Remote place just 7 minutes from Sun Gardens or 20 mins from Dubrovnik.
Starter of cheese, meats, olives, salad - everything home grown or grown by a neighbour.
We chose meat 24hr in advance, delicious slow cooked meat & their new potatoes cooked for 2hrs were delicious
Be sure to pre book your taxi home, ask them around what time the meal normally finishes ours was around 2.5hrs/3hrs depends on numbers and how many aperitif you drink.
Our favourite Croatian experience
