The Butchers Arms was so good we visited 3 times over the Auguat Bank Holiday weekend and every time was a great experience. Our first choice in choosing where to eat was the fact that the Butchers arms is dog friendly. What made it special was everything from the genuinely warm welcome (including a dog biscuit for our four legged... More

The Butcher's Arms is well off the beaten track in Rural Herefordshire, near the village of Woolhope. Although we only live a 30 minute drive away we had not tried it until a couple of years ago after recommendation by a friend. The present owners have only been there for 3 years and have turned it into a place where... More

On a short trip to Herefordshire we were taken to the Butchers Arms by a local - we certainly wouldn't have found it by ourselves. I can only say that the journey was worth it. The menu was varied and we all had something different - the liver was particularly good it certainly melted in the mouth. Our desserts also... More

This was our first trip to the Butchers Arms, the staff were very welcoming and we were pleasantly surprised by the varied menu. I recommend the Roast Beef, delicious, plentiful and cooked as you like it. Other reviewers have mentioned the low beams and how dark it is.. Well its an 18th century building, kind of goes with the territory!... More

Lovely place but mind your head. Great menu which they will adapt for young children. Good gardens. Everything cooked as we requested. 2/3 course sunday lunch for £22/27. Very good value. Excellent range on menu including veggie and gluten free.

I have been frequenting this pub for many many years and have always rated this my favourite place to eat locally. Today I took friends along for lunch after speaking so highly of the food to them for a while. However I returned home today feeling very disappointed. Each of the three courses arrived a long while before any cutlery.... More

Booked an early evening meal on spec and were satisfied as ever with this family run pub. They are accommodating to requests for changes to the menu and having a thick Gammon steak, well cooked and tasty, with a ribeye, also very tasty! Good Malbec to accompany and we were well set up for the evening. Well worth a visit... More

We pre-booked the Butchers Arms as a lunch stop for our cycling group. The staff couldn't have been more helpful: they put on the "light bites" menu specially for us (not normally available on Sundays), reserved a room for us and were happy to adapt dishes or check ingredients for special dietary requirements. The food was imaginative, tasty and nicely-presented... More

I suppose it would have been nice to sit in the pretty garden, but as usual it was raining so we had our Sunday lunch under the dark and opressive beams of this dark and dingy pub where anyone over 5ft 6in has to stoop. The menu looked promising and our friends ordered starters from the specials menu - quail... More

With local in-laws, I'd been bleating on about trying the Butchers Arms for a while. I'd heard good things and wanted to give it a try. So, on a rare night without our baby son, my husband and I headed here. The place has undeniable character and is charmingly quaint - at a petite 5', even I was cautious when... More

Description
A lovely old half-timbered pub in gorgeous countryside 8 miles SE of Hereford and a few miles from Ledbury, Ross and Malvern. Run by chef Stephen Bull. The pub's food is sourced from local ingredients, and there are cask ales and local cider and perry. The Butchers runs regular special food and wine evenings (dates posted on website). Large garden with stream for nice days, two roaring fires in the winter. Separate room bookable for parties. Family and dog friendly. Warm welcome.
