Small local place in the middle of wine country serving family cooking, not very fancy but good. Serving sizes are good sized and filling. Be prepared to be a little adventurous if you are not from France. It was all good. Service was below average,...not very helpful and inefficient. Have to have patience to eat here. Worth a stop for an easy lunch.More

A small country cafe near a town square decorated with wine barrel strips. We had a delicious white and green asparagus starter with a soft cooked egg. One main was a very rich country beef ragu.

Fantastic delicious menu in this surprising little restaurant on the side of the road, quick yet non personable service. Must stop and highly recommended!

We decided to stop by and try a locally produced wine in Le Bontemps, and what a wine I must say. Very nice Chateau Saint Marie. Because the online reviews were so good we decided to also have the "menu du jour". Short story: no...bread in all meal, we asked for it twice. Service was also tediously slow. As for the food, it was an OK home style cooking that is on pair with the price I guess.More

We were travelling through the Bordeaux region and were getting hungry. We drove past one of the few restaurants on the main road through one of the towns that was open. The first thing that caught our attention was that the place was full, usually...a very good sign. It was around 1.30pm and there was only 1 table left. The other thing we noticed was that everyone in the restaurant were French and looked like locals, not tourists, also a good sign. Once we got the menu which was in French translated, we ordered a number of different dishes. WOW, the food was exceptional. It wasnt fancy or pretentious, just really top quality produce, beautifully cooked and presented and arguably one of the best restaurants we ate at the 2 weeks we spent in France. We got a chance to have a chat with the chef at the end of the meal as most people had left by then and he was lovely. We spoke about how nice it was to have modern French cuisine as opposed to "old school" cooking. If we understood him correctly, we think that he had worked in a Michelin star restaurant previously and felt that often in fancier restaurants there isn't a lot of "love in the food". He was probably right. This was his restaurant and his dishes showed he put love into every dish. If you are travelling around this area of Bordeaux, you must pop in and have a mean at Le Bontemps.More

You may pass this little restaurant if you are not looking for it. Situated on the famous D2 winery route but within the cover of the surrounding village and local shops, the restaurant has a lot to offer. We went there for lunch and was...under time pressure so didn't have the chance to enjoy 3 course meal but went for main&dessert only. There is only one guy cooking for like 10 tables (at peak time the whole place was full) and he managed to produce consistent high quality food for all the table, a round of applause to him! The food was delicious with an unusual twist of non-frenchness which I believe is Japanese/ Asian influence (there is Japanese decor in the kitchen and in small places). The price was very reasonable given the quality of food!More

Had lunch at Le Bontemps while touring the left bank area. The place was suggested by my guide Frederic and I'm more than grateful to him for choosing this excellent bristo cafe for lunch... in fact he rated it much better than a lot of...famous cafe's and lunch spots in the neighbourhood of the left bank and boy was I more than satisfied with his choice. The place is open only for lunch and it's run by a couple. The chef who's the owner is the sole cook while his wife doubles up as the steward and help as well as cashier. The place is pretty small and it's was over crowded for lunch with a small wait time for larger groups. While they do have a la carte menu we choose the 3 course meal.they do have options as add on for the 3 course meal it's definitely the most value for money meal in the Beychevelle region. The 3 of us on the table had 3 different mains but all of us were unanimous that it was indeed a very tasty meal. They do have a limited wine list too. In fact you can bump into many wine owners, wine makers and other chateau staff dining at the restaurant Rush before the undiscovered gem becomes the most sought after cafe in the area.More

Very well priced lunch beautifully cooked at this outstanding restaurant. Highly recommended. The food is French, but the chef's Japanese wife makes sure there is a little Asian influence on the food. Very good wine list.
