It would have been very helpful to know that On the Rocks is closed and has been for some time. They are obviously doing major renovations so perhaps change of owners?
Hope it reopens aa it is a primo location!!
We had front row seats to watch the sun go down while we ate. We could have sat inside or outside - we chose inside since it was February and just a little too chilly for me. I’ve heard from others who have been there...that watching the sunset from one of the tables outside is a fun-time also. The prices are reasonable and the food was good. I definitely recommend this restaurant if you’re in the area.More
I would love to be able to rate the food or the service, but I’m not able to, the internet says they are open on Thursday, got dressed up, had a first date and was excited. Never have eaten or heard of on the rocks...and had looked at pics online...Would have talked to someone on Wednesday if anyone answered the phone the 7 times I called. It’s now Friday. No ones answering the phone... internet says it’s open, but heck...... it said it was open yesterday. Read thru some of the other reviews. This isn’t the first review that says “update your internet hours”, but I will say it again, because it is not only a let down to get there and have the doors closed, it’s not only an inconvenience, it’s rude. I was excited to eat there only to be disappointed that y’all were closed. There were at least 5 other vehicles that pulled up at 7:00 on Thursday thinking y’all were open, 3 people had never been there before. And this was just one Thursday. The other had a group of friends driving in from past Georgetown! Think about how many people go out their way to get disappointed every Thursday. This was 5 vehicles at 7:00. (I wonder how many come the whole day you have hours listed as open???’) Is that the kind of first impression you want to leave for your customers? It seems that it would be an easy fix. So UPDATE YOUR INTERNET HOURS, please. If not just because it’s easy, just because it is the right and considerate thing to do.
Oh by the way, we ate at a restaurant in town I didn’t know we had. Who would have known that MF has sushi.More
My in-laws live in Horseshoe Bay. They decided for father's day to come here for dinner with reservations at 7:00 p.m. I was against it do to how the restaurant is run. I had no say in the matter so i played the good son-in-law...and went with the disaster one miserable hour after the next. Not faulting the kids working as wait staff. They were understaffed and running around every where. Like I expected, they didn't have our reservation made more than a week in advance. We were finally seated and had to ask for every thing...I'm not kidding. Water, Menus, Drinks, Refills...it was sad. We were finally given menus after about 20 minutes. When asked if we were ready to order about 15 minutes later the waitress said all they had tonight was burgers and fajitas, no fish, nothing else on the menu. That might be something to tell your customers 40 minutes ago. Sent back to terrible margaritas and ordered beer. We stuck it out and left about 2 and a half hours later...remember for burgers and a fajita salad and a half empty restaurant 2 and a half hours.. I felt sorry for the kids working, on multiple occasions our waitress had to say, "um, okay, let me check if we have that..." about chips, lemons, Corona beer. Hopefully this is the last time I have to come here.More

Thank you so much for your feedback. We are very sorry to hear that you did not enjoy our new menu selection as we do have 22 out of 31 options that are non-fried appetizers and entrees. We do however offer all entrees as a...More
First time to On The Rocks. Went with a friend that had been to On The Rocks before, we were there for dinner and live music. The music was great. The food was not worth ordering. It seems they changed menus, from a variety of...entrees to Mexican food not long ago. I had the fajita steak enchiladas, they were horrendous. The enchilada meal comes with black beans and rice, both of which were even worst that the horrendous enchilada. Everyone else meals were not any better than my own. The service was slow, so very slow. This place might be ok to have a cocktail and watch live music but forgo the meal. BTW, my friend that had been there before said the old menu food was good.More
We have been looking forward to eating here since planning our trip. My friends have been here several times and said it was great. We looked online at menus and had already decided on what we would order. Upon arriving a reduced menu was on...table explaining they were switching menus from Italian to Tex-Mex. Ordered appetizers, both were awful. The queso was watery and pretty tasteless and cold. The bruschetta was barely toasted and no basil, pesto or garlic. Awful stuff, fortunately they comped us for those. Ordered food, it went downhill from there. Sandwiches and fries were warm, crab stuffed avocado was small avocado with a taste of crab. The portions were tiny, no live band as promised. There were bugs all along the windowsills next to our table plus a plugged sink with dead bug in restroom. We will NOT be going back. Warned z group going in on our experience and they turned around to go elsewhere. Heard a guy at another table ask for mayo for his burger and he was told they were out of mayo, craziness! It was a very disappointing experience, the good part was our waitress was very nice and helpful and it had a great view of river minus the dead bugs.More
