Really Excellent food as always, even on Mother's Day with a limited menu the restaurant did very well. Not the usual care you get on a normal day (hence only scored 4/5) but still good. Especially enjoyed the cod, poached egg and hollandaise sauce- fantastic...More

We have dined here at least 5 times in two years and will be back every opportunity we can get! The service is attentive without being fussy and the food wonderful.

True we were in their function room and were a good number but all meals pre-booked but same kitchen? Far far short of Michelin Star rating. All three courses were average and the cheese board frankly a disgrace. Tiny wedges of cheeses that had seen...More

Got a gift certificate for Christmas and boy was it a great gift. The most gourmet Indian food I've ever had. Highly recommend trying.

This was my first visit to Chapter One and after reading such glowing reviews, I was disappointed. The food was not that bad..I had the Veloute of Carmelised Onion to start with which was nice but I could have done with twice as much. Main...More

Came for an early Valentines dinner (a la carte) on Saturday 13 February. Service was good as usual, (if slight rushed due to 2hr turnaround for next sitting) but food was not up to the standard of previous visits. My starter of caramelised onion veloute...More

Thoroughly enjoyed the tasting menu and wine flight on Friday. Food and service were excellent and it really is a great restaurant for special occasions or treats. Gluten allergy handled expertly and without any fuss. Highly recommend and look forward to returning.

Definitely one of the best restaurants in Orpington. The food was absolutely delicious and very reasonably priced (£39.95 for 3 courses on a Saturday night) considering the standard and quality of the restaurant and its food. The service was great - very friendly and welcoming....More

For us, this is a restaurant that would like to be really good and high class, and in many ways it is, but sadly falls just a bit short in all main areas. The ambiance is a hard to describe. The décor is of the...More

Why is the loyalty programme such a farce. Two times I have actually been there on my actual birthday, in addition to at least eight other times for various lunches and dinners this past twelve months alone, and in spite of the restaurant publicly stating their gifted treats for loyal regular members, especially on their birthdays, we have had just one glass of FLAT prosecco, hardly enticing to say the least. On the second visit for my birthday I pointed this out to the manager, Simon I think his name was, and he said he would ensure I got spoilt the next time. Hmmm obviously that didn't happen! I am really not desperate for freebies, but please don't promote an empty promise and don't take take your loyal customers for granted. Why does this happen in a four rosette establishment? I think that all these questions need to be answered please.

I cannot answer it as myself and my wife have said exactly the same thing. Also as 'regulars' I never receive any 'deals' yet my sister who only went once is often being enticed with special promotions via email. Also pretty... More

Behind the charming Tudor exterior is a bright, modern restaurant with top notch modern European cuisine. Chapter One has gained enthusiastic reviews from many major restaurant critics and happy plaudits from satisfied diners. Not to mention that it won AA restaurant of the year 2004 and comes along with four AA rosettes. The dining room is relaxed, spacious and comfortable, and the cooking superb. Start with something inventive, like homemade roast gnocchi with braised chestnut, pumpkin and lobster. Then do try the braised oxtail with pancetta bacon and parsnip puree - everyone raves about it. The wine list shows much care and attention too. You will leave feeling well-fed and well cared-for.
