I knew this place from Netflix’s Chef’s Table. Beautiful presentation. It’s not just another dessert place. Great taste, fine quality. Highly recommended for you to experience. Ensure you make a reservation way in advance.

How often can one go to a very authentic Balinese setting and have 15 course set menu by prepared Will Goldfarb- voted the “best pastry chef in the world “in 2019 ( just before COVID hit and has interrupted the gastronomy world). The setting is...beautiful, the food is an amazing journey of flavors, textures, flavor combinations and amazing service. And if you have the chance to come across Will he is himself a delight to interact with. Don’t miss this amazing experience ( hint even though it is Named room4 desert. The first round of servings is a dinner in itself. So don’t have a meal before otherwise there won’t be much room in the tummy.More

Been coming for Bali for a few years and always had Room4Dessert on my radar but decided to book for New Years Eve. They say you should never regret anything in life but now that I’ve been I heartily regret not coming before! The entire...experience is just fabulous. The garden tour on arrival is a great way to ease into proceedings and I loved that as the menu progresses you move through different areas of the restaurant. Each dish comes with a thoughtful explanation which really adds to the overall enjoyment. The food is WONDERFUL and the menu is quite different from any other fine dining experience I have had. The first 5 dishes were savoury (the mahi mahi tartar with apple was simply wonderful and I don’t even like fish - especially not raw!!!) and the following 10 (yes 10!!!) dishes were sweet. Even if you are not a dessert lover do not let this put you off - the balance of flavours points to the mastery of the chef - Will Goldfarb who has to be one of the nicest chefs out there! He was constantly checking in to ensure everything was good and such a fun personality - again just enhances the entire experience. I could go on and on but you need to experience it for yourself. One other thing to mention is that as a solo traveller I felt completely at ease here - the restaurant is cleverly set up so that whether you are alone or with others you are made to feel completely welcome and at home. Last but not least I must mention the staff - without exception they displayed a thoughtful and considerate service with lots of smiles and a genuine passion for their work. This has to be the best and most authentic fine dining experience I have been lucky enough to enjoy. I paired the menu with the spirited drinks and it was well worth it. Cannot wait to come back!!!!More

Room4Dessert is unlike any other meal you will have in Bali, or most other places. As the name suggests, it’s all about dessert, lots of them. There’s a great philosophy here which starts with the welcome at the font gate, and a tour of the...garden where they grow herbs, fruits and vegetables they use. The first 7 small courses are mostly savoury, and served either at the bar or in the casual settings nearby while you order drinks and look out on the garden. Then it’s into the main dining room for the next 7, and this time, it’s all desserts. Finally, it’s outside for the final 7 courses, which are just small sweets and after dinner snacks. Service was superb, everything was explained well, and while you may have had enough desserts to last a month in one night, the serving are just the right size and you never felt overwhelmed. A great experienceMore

We did a cocktail pairing with desserts. The starters were amazing, desserts that followed with cocktail didn't disappoint. Finally the petit fours were a perfect end to a four hour dinner. Hosts were gracious, you moved to three different rooms which added to the intrigue....Only wish was that there was one more choclate dessert. It is a tasting menu so you won't like everything. The menu is unique, there was not a single dish that I had before in the combination that was prepared. Goes on to show the ingenuity of the chef.More

This was the second time I had visited R4D. It was so good I had to come back! Just like the first experience I was blown away and took my experience home as an unforgettable memory. I can not thankyou enough, not only do you...create a magical space filled with positive and friendly staff, but the atmosphere is filled with a beautiful ambiance. The garden is fresh and local, supporting environmental and sustainable practices for the community where a no waste perspective is considered, everything has a use in their garden (fried banana heart- GENIUS). I am inspired by your food, working in hospitality my whole life I can not help but to think how I can produce such soulful food myself. I Thankyou so so much for my journey throughout 21 courses where I learnt and tasted many new things that I will never forget (BURNT COCONUT YUM). Keep on flourishing, I will be back...More

R4D was highly recommended by a friend with very good taste and so we were excited to indulge ourselves a little on our trip. While the experience, ambience and setting was lovely, some of the courses fell considerably short of expectations. We thoroughly enjoyed the...7 courses of desserts with matched cocktails which were exceptional and considerable in size. However, some of the savoury courses lacked flavour and didn’t add to the experience. Additionally, the final 7 courses of the petit fours felt unnecessary as we were already stuffed from the previous 14 dishes. I feel that it would be worth reducing the number of savoury dishes to two or three and pass up on some of the petit fours to really hero the dessert courses. I’d like to note that the staff were lovely and thorough in their service - especially when walking through the garden. Overall while a nice experience, it was a disappointing and veeeeery expensive meal ($350 AUD for 2 pax).More

You must give credit to Will and his team for trying to pull this off. The level of ambition is undoubtedly very high. The 21 course tasting menu is however a bit of hit and miss which unfortunately tarnishes the overall experience. You enter through...the garden which has an impressing array of herbs and vegetables which are used throughout the menu. The first 7 'savory' dishes were served at the bar in one of two dining rooms. They were all mostly fresh and 'interesting' but pretty forgettable. It was still a good start, and having few savory dishes and drinks before the desserts makes a lot of sense. We then moved through the small kitchen and bar to the other side of the restaurant for the dessert tasting. Out of the 7 main desserts the 3 standouts were 'RED' , Incidente Stradale & 'Whiskey Torture & Turgenev'. These are some of the best desserts I've ever had (!!) and I would come back only for them. Perfect balance of flavor, composition and texture. Bravo!! The level was overall very high and its clear this is where Room 4 dessert really shines. It was also very nice being seated at the bar, overseeing the work of the pastry chefs preparing the desserts in front of us. Cocktail pairing was so so and you might be better off simply ordering your own drink of choice. The last 7 'bites' were served outside on a small patio with digestive tea. A good idea but the 'bites' all felt very ordinary and sub-par of the amazing desserts just served before. I would have preferred to finish on a high note with one of the mentioned desserts. In summary a very nice evening and cool experience. I would not do the tasting menu again but would happily recommend anyone to go and try above mentioned desserts from the a'la carte menu.More

Such a different experience. Some of the dishes were truly amazing. "Red" and "Whiskey, Torture, Turganev" were standouts for me. If I had any negative, it's that it was too much. I would have happily stopped before we went outside for the last "stage". And...the warm Bandrek served with the last inside course was vile. It is a Degustation menu, so you're not going to like everything, but it was sad that this was the last taste of "Stage" 2. Overall, a really nice experience with mainly highs, but a few misses. Would definitely recommend as an experience though.More

What an experience this whole place is. Highly recommended by many friends this was a must visit for us in Ubud. A little further out do you’ll likely have to get a taxi there and back. There were 21 different courses on offer, 7 in...each room! You do the maths. Some of the flavours are incredible - all so fresh and light from their own garden. The staff are so lovely and they have so much to do to get through the service so hats off to them. If I’m ever in Ubud this is a must visit for sure. Thank you Will & team, an experience I’ll never forgetMore

I don't have sweet tooth however I have to say this place makes amazing desert that's worth trying. Most importantly, it is not only about the food but the whole experience is memorable. We booked for 4 pm and the whole process takes 2.5 hours....We booked for 7 courses non cocktail-pairing menus. When we arrived the staff explained that they will serve 7 savoury snacks, followed by 7 desserts and 7 petite/ bite sizes petite-four. I was worried that we will feel sick at the end of the 21 courses. However, I was pleasantly surprised how enjoyable and light each serving is. Every meal is carefully portioned, enough for you to taste each flavor without feeling heavy. The presentation was immaculate and the flavor was well balanced. It is indeed unique and elevated gastronomic experience.More

Admittedly Inshould not have come with my 3 kids, one of them heavily jet lagged. At least my kids are quite picky with food which ended up in me having to eat 2-3 plates on average. Having said that there were very few magical moments...that let me thoroughly enjoy it. The first 7 savory snacks were rather bland or had a funny taste to it. The desserts were partly very good, but none was exceptional neither in texture nor in taste. Finally the petit fours on the terrace, there you had to like dark chocolate, the jelly gum could not keep up with Haribo to my taste. Overall probably by European standards not overpriced but with kids ranging from 9 to 17 I would rethink the investmentMore

Not that great and very overpriced food. The “main” courses were very average with not a lot of flavour. The deserts with cocktail parings were nicer but some had some really unpleasant flavours thrown into the mix. Good service with a tour around the garden...to start. Really hit and miss overall.More
