Having watched the Netflix program about this chef, we booked well in advance of our travel. Not really sure what to expect, we arrived on time and were immediately given a tour of the gardens where ingredients for drinks and desserts are grown. We were then given a seat at the bar where we had cocktails and delightful savory 'bites'. These painstaking creations were whimsical and delicious....and finished far too soon! We were soon led through the bar/kitchen area to the other side of the restaurant where we chose which menu of desserts we wanted to try. Originally, we were given 2 seats at the bar, but with having a birds-eye view of the toilet where no door seemed to stay closed, we asked to move. They were more than happy to seat us at a table. Our desserts were inventive, beautiful, and not too sweet. Again, we were finished far too soon. We opted to retire to the patio area to have yet another dessert which was magnificent. Would we recommend this restaurant? Absolutely. Would we go back? Probably.

We did the 21 courses menu with pairing, which means that it includes half glasses of cocktails they fitted to the menu. When we arrived, we started with a tour of the garden where they explained a lot about the plants, which was very interesting. Afterward we started with 7 little appetizers at the bar. You can watch the staff prepare each dish and they explain where the inspiration for this came from, what is in it.. After that we moved to the main restaurant for the next 7 dishes, that were more like desserts. Those 7 included the paired cocktails, which were very good. For the last 7 dishes, we moved to a table in the garden. All in all I think it was well worth the money. Even though it is pretty expensive, especially if you choose the pairing with cocktails, it was probably the best food I have ever eaten, the staff was extremely nice and explained a lot and I would deffinetly recommend it to everyone!

We scheduled to have dessert dinner for Christmas Night at 9:30pm. My interest in R4D was peaked after watching the show Chef's Table on Netflix. But being able to go and experience this in person was really mind blowing. We started our experience with the garden tour and how all of the plants, fruits, spices that are grown are used in the dishes they offer. Not only was the staff was so super attentive and friendly but very knowledgeable on what was served on each of the 21 dishes on the 3 different stations through out the restaurant. Chef Will personally served some of the dishes and explained to us the composition of each one. We really enjoyed the food, and the atmosphere.

Have a big lunch a few hours before going to Room4Desert because this WILL be your dinner! And why not?! Life is too short to not experience multiple desert courses with wine pairings (seriously, get the wine) for a full meal. Served on ceramic works from nearby Gaya Ceramics, the presentation and palette were spot-on and a delight to experience. A “must go”.

I visited Room 4 Dessert this week in the evening for the first time I several years... and what an exceptional experience. The ambiance is gorgeous — ample indoor seating with inviting lighting and gentle breeze moving throughout, stunning, well-tended gardens (from which the culinary team sources their fresh ingredients), and cozy seating arrangements. The reception staff are welcoming and wait staff are knowledgeable, accommodating for special requests and attentive. Even the owner, Chef Will Golfarb, spent time with our table — warm, welcoming, and personable, just as I remembered him from years ago. Our meal was delicious — light but satisfying, abundant and diverse in flavor, impeccable temperature — no detail overlooked. I will definitely visit again very soon. Anyone visiting Ubud would be silly to miss the chance to dine at Room 4 Dessert — you will walk away with a pleased palate and a special memory.

Really not sure where to start as the experience, ambiance, and staff were incredible, but the food was not. We were really excited to visit here while on our honeymoon in Bali. The experience is set up in 3 sections. Upon arriving, they give you a tour of their garden and take you to the seating in the back outside which is where the first 7 courses, the snacks, are served. These definitely fell flat. We are vegetarians so can't really vouch for the meat options. But the snacks didn't have too much flavor. We barely touched one of the courses, Chef Will noticed, and had the staff whip up a simple salad which was probably the most amazing thing I have tasted. After the first 7 courses, a staff member takes you inside via the kitchen and behind the bar (which was pretty cool). This is where the desserts start. Before our visit, we had requested the staff to omit raw eggs for one of us. However, they understood that as vegan even after going back and forth and so one of us got vegan desserts for 2 courses. If you're vegan, I would not recommend spending your money here as they were tasteless. The regular options were okay. 2-3 stood out in terms of flavor and presentation. Although, I wish they had plated their courses differently. It seemed that every course was on some sort of white plate. Not a huge thing, but if you're paying this price and trying to compete with other high-end restaurants, plating is important for a wow factor. After completing the desserts, we were taken outside for the Petit four. The staff did request for feedback throughout, which we honestly provided and Chef Will even came and spoke to us to discuss our feedback and how they can improve. This was respectable as they are genuinely concerned on feedback and what they can do better. Overall though, the food was definitely not worth the price. Such a shame as the ambiance, experience, and staff were wonderful.

While there were more savoury dishes than I expected, I was left with a sweet taste in my mouth from the conscientious and attentive staff, and the reassuring presence of the maestro himself. The dining experience is three 7 course menus, set in three differing areas, which includes a walk through the kitchen - a very personal touch. I would recommend the full experience including drink pairings and a glass of red at the end of the evening for good measure. Hidden gem of Ubud - Must do.

We were staying just down the road from R4D and decided to give it a go as a couple on our cycling tour said it was worth a visit. The staff were exceptionally friendly and we enjoyed the food very much. I enjoyed the 7 savory snacks most of all... and liked most of the desserts. With 21 dishes served I think its fair to say we were not expecting to love all of them...but really enjoyed most of them. Lots of different flavors and having them paired with cocktails was fun. We had a late afternoon tea instead of lunch and we didn't need anything after R4D..We were comfortably full. Overall we really enjoyed the experience and if it's within your budget definitely worth a visit.

Too much of everything. 2.5 hrs turn to 4 hrs. Savory is not that impressive. The best one is only the croquet. The sweet consist maybe 70 percent of the 21 small dishes. The sweet parts were mostly chocolates. A nightmare when you have kids with you. Service is great but very slow. Everything is overdo and the pocky copy just taste like pocky.

An absolutely phenomenal experience! So different to lots of high end restaurants as the concept is so unique. The passage through the restaurant and the variety of dishes and flavours is incredible. It's great to be able to watch the chefs at work and see how much of the produce is grown on site. The drinks are also excellent and the service is impeccable. The prices are obviously high, particularly for Bali, but the value for money is unbelievable. Book in here, you won't regret it!

21 courses, with 7 cocktail pairings, and two happy diners. The menu was inventive, doesn’t take itself too seriously, and grounded in the location. The garden tour at the beginning set the tone of a place where the staff genuinely enjoy their roles and food. To be honest, I’ve read some of the negative reviews here and it seems most people who are disappointed expected something that this restaurant is not. You won’t get ginormous portion sizes or dishes that are ‘clever’ for the sake of it.

My wife and I recently shared this amazing experience with four (4) other friends of mind this past weekend as we wanted to venture up to Ubud. The flavors, the ambiance, and the passionate staff made this dinning experience Epic even during these challenging times. We were very impressed with the local ingredients and how well they where blended in our dishes. Chef Will is very creative and you can really tell that his team loves what they do. The place has a nice warmth to it. Highly recommend when you are in Ubud.

This is my second time at Room 4 Dessert but my first review. I last went in June 2022 and am now back in April 2023. I was so excited to be returning as I loved it the year before, When we arrived we did the garden tour again through the beautiful garden and smelt some of the herbs and leaves used in the dishes. We were then seated at the bar for the savoury round of dishes, We opted for the cocktail pairing with our dishes. The big change from last visit is that they’ve reduced the menu from 21 courses to 15, They said this was done after customer feedback: I personally loved the 21 course menu but I’m not complaining , The savoury round with matching cocktails was excellent, I didn’t have a favourite as loved them all equally, We were then taken through to the next dining area for the next 5 courses, This was also excellent, everything tasted amazing and presented amazingly, For the last round we were taken outside, This was my least favourite round, while still good, didn’t have the wow factor of previous dishes but still presented beautifully. The staff here are all very attentive and very friendly, They run a ‘well oiled machine’, The portion sizes are perfect as I started feeling full right on the last round, The cocktail pairing was also perfect, the right portions of cocktails so you don’t get too tipsy, The timing was also perfect with 2 hours the perfect amount of time to enjoy this special experience, I would definitely come here again as it is such a great experience. It is pricey for Bali but it is very special what they do here and the products used are high quality and the staff and chefs provide a high standard of service and quality of food, I love how the menu changes and can’t wait to see what they do next. Thanks for a lovely night again.

We have known about Room4Dessert from the Netflix series Chef’s Table, so had booked a table there when we planned our Bali trip. We were staying in Canggu so it was a long trip ( 90 minutes with the traffic ) to Ubud, but it was worth it. Meals nowadays are all about experience, and R4D is without exception. It was done very well though, there is a pre dinner tour of their herb garden, ( so learning experience is thrown in ) followed by bite size pre dinner snacks, then the seven desserts, paired with seven cocktails. Desserts are not overly sweet, instead reflecting the smell and taste of the natural ingredients, paired with some of the best and interesting cocktails we ever had! The service was polished and efficient, the dining room was cool and refined. It was overall a very lovely experience and I would certainly recommend the place for anyone visiting Bali.
