Visited as part of Leger Battlefield tour. A must for all WW1 enthusiasts. A vast collection of memorabilia in and around the restaurant and the small indoor museum. Plus the outdoor recreated trenches. Food was plentiful and tasty plus a well stocked bar. Well done...Dominique, a great achievement.More

We went on the recommendation of friends. The lady serving took our order but wasn’t particularly friendly, oh well…. While we waited we had a look at the very impressive artifacts around the place and wandered through an open gate into the ‘museum’ area. We...were soon shouted at by the owner and told in a very aggressive manner to get out. As we left he pointed to a very small ‘closed’ sign on the gate, we tried to apologise (in French) but he continued to shout aggressively at us. The gate had been open so the sign wasn’t visible, and a simple request to leave would have been sufficient. His reaction was over the top and unnecessary. We were there with very young children, they didn’t need to see it. The food was reasonable, the price was a little expensive but you pay it given the location and artifacts, but I definitely wouldn’t go back given the owners behaviour.More

A must visit place for anyone experiencing the Somme. The owner, Dominic, is an expert ofln the history of the area as well as being a friendly host. The food is of the chipsnwith everything variety, but good nevertheless and generous portions at a reasonable...price. The artefacts on show are better than most museums and the recreation trench is impressive.More

We visited 9th June 2023. We stopped for a quick drink on the way to our hotel. The barman was very friendly. We didn't eat but the food looked delicious. There is a dining area that has lots of interesting artefacts from WW1 and a...small trench museum that you can visit for 7 euros. There is a good selection of beers but some are very strong so ask before you buy.More

My wife and I had lunch here after visiting the remembrance trail sites in Pozieres. The cafe features a large amount of WW1 artefacts and makes for a unique dining environment. We ordered a couple of baguettes and chips which were ok but nothing spectacular....The lady who served us seemed a bit grumpy and was probably the most surly French person we met during our trip. The cafe has an adjoining museum however it wasn't open when we visited which was a shame.More

We visit the Somme area every year, usually around the 1st July for 1 or 2 weeks. We always visit Le Tommy at least once. Lovely warm welcome from Dominique and his staff and I love to have the fresh crusty bread with omelette and...chips and a cold beer. The museum is well worth a look and all around the walls of the cafe are interesting artifacts and photographs associated with WW1. Dominique is very knowledgeable about the area during the Great War and often in quieter times is happy to have a chat. In June 2022 he opened a capsule from WW1 in the cafe and told us the story of the capsule and its contents. If you are looking fancy food this is probably not the place for you. If you are wanting fresh, plentiful food at a good price with lots of WW1 memorabilia to see, then you will love this speciql place.More

A perfect stop off for a bite to eat with plenty of WW1 artefacts as a backdrop. Helpful and friendly staff and menus in English, I can recommend the omelette.

Perhaps our choice of lunch item was the problem, maybe not. Mushroom soup consisted of no mushrooms. I had seen a video months earlier entitled “Walking the Somme” wherein the host descends into the mock trenches at the rear of the restaurant but no such...admission is permitted now. We walked around the rest of the exhibits outdoors. At 38 euros at bit pricey for lackluster food and limited entry to the museum. So disappointing, I had Le Tommy as a “must-do” but it fell far short of expectations.More

Our first trip to the Somme area in three years and a visit to the Tommy Café, quite the change. The owner has completely re-arranged the displays with a quality museum appearance. We were made very welcome and Dominique the owner as ever is a...font of knowledge regarding the battles of 1916. My particular interest being the first Tank actions and one part of the museum is dedicated to that subject with some remarkable artefacts. A good solid meal washed down by English tea and back out on the tour. The local area has suffered badly from the pandemic, they just want us to come back and support the economy. Best regards PeterMore

One year ago we visited restaurant Le Tommy in Pozieres, France and wrote and wrote a not so positive (understatement) review of this “restaurant” and “museum”, concluding that only the rats in the trenches could digest the food served by restaurant Le Tommy. We visited...the place again in July 2020 an decided to give the restaurant another chance. Unfortunately, we have to attest that the quality and selection of the food is as bad as before. Coffee is warmed up in the micro-wave. It all stops here. In order to mention something positive about this place, we checked out the “museum”. It is advertised the museum includes trenches, with entrance fee of Euro 7 p.p. The price for a group (minimum of 15 persons) equals Euro 5 p.p. We did not check out these trenches, being afraid of being attacked by herds of rats who were attracted by the smell of food (French fries). We wondered if any group except for representatives of the French Public Health Department would have the guts to check out these trenches. We also checked out the toilet and we can confirm that the toilet (women) is cleaner than the average French toilet (normally a hole in the ground). We have to conclude that the combination of French fries, micro wave coffee, trenches, and toilet in Le Tommy is probably more dangerous than going over the top during the four years of war. Le Tommy got a second chance but did nothing with it. The soldiers in WW1 never got a second chance.More

You enter the bar and its possible to imagine that a group of soldiers will be standing in one corner enjoying a short break. Just over the other side of the road is still part of the trench system from WW1 and a small cemetery...and memorial. The road running past is part of the old Roman road and runs straight for kilometers and there is a larger memorial just up the road. The day we visited was cool and blustery. This did not lend itself to cheering us up, but you could imagine those on a break making the most of the time there. The place has many decorations and memory pieces, which link it to the WW1. We had a drink there and a quick look around as there is so much to see in the close proximity, including the church and graveyard and memorial as well as the section of trenches and underground shelters. Having a drink and bite to eat did invoke memories of what it would have been like.More
