My friend picked up takeout from Chengs for my first night in The Villages. I really love good Chinese food (prefer Thai and Vietnamese) but I was not expecting it to be flavorful. I was pleasantly surprised! The egg rolls were cooked well - although the skin was a bit thick. The kung pao chicken had a nice bite to it and the orange chicken was very tasty. There was enough for two nights and it was just as good the second night.

I’m surprised by the negative reviews. We get takeout from here regularly. Other than some stale fortune cookies and sometimes greasy egg roles, the food is always very good and plentiful. They have a booming takeout business, so lots of folks obviously agree.

Went for lunch and had the Kung Pao meal. Service very good, menu good. Egg drop soup was one of best ever had. Kung Pao chicken was very good with all quality ingredients, example soft, tasty, all white chicken in it, and fresh celery etc. A full egg roll came with it and was one of the best i have had. All food arrived HOT and tasty. The staff very friendly. It was a CLEAN restaurant and well kept.

Best Chinese restaurant food in the area. Very small restaurant, great wait staff. Vegetarians can eat there, if they eat vegetable combo.
The wonton has pork but you can
pass on eating them, egg drop would work.

My wife, daughter and I just got home, after eating at Cheng's Chinese Restaurant on 466. I had stopped going there several years ago.
We went there because it was late. I had just returned from the airport and our daughter wanted Chinese food. With tip, just over $67.00.
I would compare this food to Alpo or Purina...at best! Simply degusting food! How does anyone in the restaurant business, who cooks for a living, serve this garbage to customers. I will NEVER step foot in there again. Should have learned my lesson from several years ago. We work hard for our money, as do others, and loath spending our money on awful food. They asked how our food was. I told them it was not good. They did nothing about it. Just like before. Why ask me? The Hot & Sour soup had much too much vinegar. We were advised not to order the chicken wings. The pan-fried dumplings were over fried. The shrimp Tempura was gooey under the breading and had an awful aftertaste. The Lo Mein was dry and chewy.
I am not a cook, but I love Chinese food. I learned from a Chinese cookbook how to make a few of my favorite dishes. I have been told that my dishes are authentic tasting with the spirit of China culture as the main ingredient. If I can do this, once in a while, I expect that a Chinese "cook/chef" could do better.

Food was tasteless overpriced and barely edible. I know we take a chance on chinese takeout and this place was close to our home but never never again. Panda Express is 1000 x better and we will continue to look for other chinese take out place even if it means a longer drive. All of our guests complained of not feeling well and several dishes were ordered including general tso.s sesame chicken sweet n sour chicken ( absolute worst food of the order) and house special low mein we asked for it to be extra spicy but was tasteless and bland. Do not waste your food dollars here. So not worth it and you put your health at risk

I ordered takeout from this restaurant for the first time. I will definitely go back. Even with a 17 minute ride home, the food tasted hot and fresh. The portions were generous--enough for me to enjoy for lunch the next day!

I decided to venture out to a restaurant I had heard good things about. I ordered on line then went to pick up my order. That was the good part.
When I got home to enjoy my Chinese food I was so disappointed. You could smell the old grease used to fry the egg rolls, which is very unappealing. The black bean shrimp, shrimp fried rice and bourbon chicken actually had no flavor, good or bad, just non existent. I did not eat too much of the food,why... However,what I did eat upset my stomach so much you can imagine where I ended up
That was my experience hope yours is better.

Haven’t been here since before Covid and I believe it’s better than ever! New mask policy (required). We had a half Peking duck with soup before ( egg drop and hot/sour). Everything delicious and hot. The plum sauce was really good and we we were able to get more since we ran out before we finished the duck. Duck was moist and crispy, not fatty or greasy.

Get take out there about twice a month. Today we had Seafood Wor Bar & Wonton soup (about a quart) with egg roll plus all the trimmings. There's enough left for another meal for two. They passed the food out the front door due to COVID19. We love this place.

Sorry folks, it still take out only! A full year after Covid has hit they have not opened. I asked when they will open, apparently my question wasn’t appreciated! They don’t know! I did take out and the food was fairly good but not as good as it is when fresh from the kitchen. Hopefully, they will open the dinning room soon.

This is our favorite take out place in this area. Food is good and portions are large. Seating area is small but we enjoy eating at home, so rarely eat there.

My wife and I stopped there on a whim. The atmosphere was quiet and delightful. The service was impeccable. The food was fresh and hot the aroma was divine and the taste was out of this world. We will be making the 1 hour drive again and again.

New to the Villages. Originally from NY so I think we know good food. Lived in South Florida for over 30 years. Have tried many restaurants from Mom and Pops to 5 star. We walked in and almost walked out. Glad we didn't! Wow! Best Chinese food we had in years! Great soup. Great eggroll (I don't like eggrolls normally but loved this one). Great chicken egg foo yung and fried rice. Mom had honey garlic chicken that was very lightly battered. Everything was cooked light...not greasy. Service excellent.Will be back!
